Dd slightly too small for booster seat - would you risk it?

We're going en famille to Amsterdam at the weekend to stay with friends who live there. We're flying there and our friends are picking us up at the airport. They've tried to borrow a carseat but haven't been able to so we went out and bought a very light booster seat recommended for 3 year olds, minimum weight 32lbs. Dd is 2 and a half, tall and heavy for her age - about 29lbs. Once we get there we won't be travelling by car much at all (although, yes, I know it only takes one journey to have an accident). Honestly, would you think it'll be ok or would you not risk it? The alternative is to take the train and tram to the city centre (avec pushchair and bags).

Isn't a booster seat used so that the seat belt is then in the correct position ?? If that is true then you can buy something that clips on to a seat belt to pull it into the correct position for a child.
I'm not sure where you can get them from though, but i'll try and find out.

Just a had quick look on a couple of sites but can't find one any where. I could of sworn toys r us did one. One site i went on though said that you shouldn't use them any way.
Sorry, i wasn't much help was i.
I think i would probably just take it and see how she gets on.

halfords?
Is it a booster seat without a back?

Yes it's just a very basic booster and the instructions show a normal seat belt fitting around/through it. Got it from Argos. It does have EC safety symbols on it.

Moomin - we got one from Mothercare - it has an adjustable clip which ensures that the safety belt fits around the child safely. My DS has been using this since he was 2.5 yrs and this was ok from a specification point of view. Maybe you could return the Argos one and get the one from Mothercare (cost £25).
