Is the 13th century medieval, strictly speaking? (I don't know how it would be classified if it isn't, it just seems too early somehow.)

Oh, not a book, 2cats - just the brief summary on the BBC page. It mentions King John (tick), The Provisions of Oxford 1258 (big cross) and Simon de Montfort (question mark) - any help?

JanH, the Provisions of Oxford is an agreement whereby Henry shared power with his barons, because he wasn't a very good ruler (I think). When Henry renaged on this agreement, a rebellion was led by Simon de Montfort in 1264, who was his brother-in-law, but he was defeated by Henry's son, the future Edward I.

Does that make anything clearer? Is anyone still awake? Grin
