Carboot or ebay

As part of a bid to declutter my house I am doing a car boot. I have collected together loads of stuff.

I have loads of dd old clothes which I have been slowly selling on ebay. The bog standard stuff from next, adams gap etc I am going to take to the carboot.

I have quite a bit of designer clothing as well should I take that to the carboot or sell on ebay. Am thinking of stuff like oililly, ralph lauren and similar.

ebay!

Don't car boot any clothes, You are not likely to get more than 50p an item. People who use ebay have more money than avid booters.

That is what I thought!

Am I doing right getting rid of the bog standard stuff on the carboot.

I am also quite good at face painting thought I might offer face paiting as a side line as our carboot is packed with bored kids. Have got some pictures of dd with ehr face painted for people to choose from.

I know you don't get a lot for clothes but how much am I going to get for an amdams t shirt minus paypal and ebay fees and the grief of packing and trekking to post office.

Definitely ebay it!
I did a car boot once & only once! I made about £30 & it wasn't worth my labour!
I tried to sell a Ted Baker top for £1.50 & the woman said "Oh, you are a bit expensive!"
I ended up selling it for 50p!
Designer items sell for quite a bit on ebay.

TwinsetandPearls · 10/06/2006 13:09

I am mainly selling stuff that I can't sell on ebay as they are too heavy such as some of dd old toys, and to get rid of a lot of stuff in one swoop.

Am I not right to even get rid of cheaper clothes on a carboot?

You could always try & sell some of the bits on here!

KommandantColditz · 10/06/2006 13:12

sell the clothing as small bundles, with one very desirable item in it. People will pay a lot for oilily and Ralph Lauren, and you can shift the basic items on the back of these.

blueteddy · 10/06/2006 13:13

Yes, I have done that.

I would sell the designer stuff individually, and the bog standard stuff in larger bundles - ie 5 girls t-shirts age 2-3, 2 matching sets top and skirt age 4-5. You won't make a fortune on the basic stuff but you will get shot of it and make a few quid.

Agree the designer stuff is big business on eBay.

TwinsetandPearls · 10/06/2006 13:20

I was just looking forward to getting rid of lots of stuff in one go and making a few quid at the same time!

So should I just forget the carboot then? Or proceed but without any clothes.

Time the car boot for the week after your eBay auctions finish. You can sell any leftovers for a pittance.

TS&P I'm having a big clear out at the moment too, I'm selling things on Ebay and have been thinking about a carboot for stuff like videos and books that don't sell well on Ebay. I have also looked at stuff and weighed up the amount I could make with the effort involved and put these items on Freecycle - the Blackpool group is really big now and items go very quickly! Smile

TwinsetandPearls · 10/06/2006 13:35

I have looked at our freecycle actually, might give it a whirl.
