Saw one of our Year 10 girls staggering to school pushing one of those 'crying baby' dolls in a real push char. God, she looked knackered!

So having complimented her on how beautiful her baby was, as asked if the baby had slept through.

'no, she cried all night, and I'm feeling ill, I'm so tired'

'my little one didn't sleep through for 9 months ' sez I

'I'm never going to have one, miss!!!!!!!!!'

at last - contraception that works!!

tigermoth · 08/06/2006 19:04

that's what I would have said :). I simply could never see the point in having babies and was convinced I was never going to have one, up to the age of 32 or 33. Then my dh started to sell the idea to me, but it took a couple of years until he perusaded me.

I was the same as you tigermoth.

Poor girl looked totaly knackered. But I had to laugh! Grin

They're fab aren't they?!
Apparently our Head of Guidance has the key to programme them (easy, demanding, or nightmare screaming baby from hell).

She claims she simply does it on a purely random basis ... yeah, right!

God! What a fantastic job! I am deeply Envy

those dolls are fab!!!They proved very effective at my old school too.....

tigermoth · 09/06/2006 07:48

roisin, your head of department must be very tempted to be 'less random' . What a lot of power she holds with that key!

sassy · 09/06/2006 08:22

We have these - they always get the same result from the kids - "I don't want a baby EVER!"

Our boys get them too which I think is great. A little bit of a reminder about their responsibiities too.

LOL at the "random" programming! I can think of a few pupils I'd like to "randomly" assign a very fretful baby-thing to!!

brimfull · 09/06/2006 09:04

how do they decide who gets to take the baby home for the night?

fairyjay · 09/06/2006 09:20

I saw them at a school we looked around for dd. This thread has reminded me of them - and made me think of suggesting the idea to the school dd and ds attend. Are they very expensive?

eidsvold · 09/06/2006 10:23

unfortunately however they arrived a little too late for a no of girls in my year 9 prep class... according to the head of year it was my poor example encouraging them all Grin the fact that I was 33 and married and was in a good place financially was neglected..... running joke cause all the year 9 girls that got pregnant that year were in my prep class..... year I was having dd1.

A Young work experience girl was at my work two weeks ago, many months before she had pre-arranged through school to have the pretend baby for a week- not realising that it clashed with her work experience.

Poor soul looked haggard and awful - and very ammusing watching her take a doll around everywhere in the office with her. At lunchtime the doll was lay on the middle of the table.
