Mercy how can you not like the Dalai Lama? Look at his cheeky little face Shock

lilibet · 06/06/2006 20:31

Fave actress, hmmm, difficult, Fiona Shaw is always interesting, Meryl Streep can be incredibly versatile, can do accents, can look good or bad, you can beleive that she is good or bad, but I've only ever seen her on film.

Harriet Walter is also incredibly good, I've never seen Imelda Staunton be bad in anything but I don't know if I've seen her in a wide enough variety of roles to put her up there with the best.

Erm....................

Susan Sarandon is incredibly good on film, as are the Hepburns and Jodie Foster

Ha!! Thought - even tho' I have never seen her on stage I think Helen Mirren takes some beating for all round versatility.

But to go back to the original subject...................

Kathy Burke is ace!

I was answering Beety's question Rhuby!!

Thought you were more of a reality TV star than an actress!!

I would very happily vote for your dd tho' - totally gorgeous in that prog!

Rhubarb · 06/06/2006 20:42

Ah but the title doesn't say actress or actor does it? Just famous person - which I am . I get sooo tired of signing autographs all the time but what can you do? So many fans, so little time!

DumbledoresGirl · 06/06/2006 20:43

Well I don't like Kathy Burke so there!

Isn't it plain that there is no-one everyone likes and there never will be?

Why do you want to find someone anyway Plug?

JenumGeranium · 06/06/2006 20:49

I would have to add another vote for the lovely Fern Britton and Philip Schofield!

Oh and Dermot O'Leary and dear old Ronnie Barker!

LeahE · 06/06/2006 20:54

Can't believe that someone dislikes David Attenborough Shock

What about Michael Palin, who is famously Nice?

franke · 06/06/2006 20:57

Sid James was a wife beater.

Audrey gets my vote.

I've heard nice real life stories about Judi D and Alan Bennett (notice he's not 'Sir' Alan Bennett which wins even more points in my view).

Mercy · 06/06/2006 20:58

Ok, I give in; Rhubarb and the Dalai Lama are my 2 most favouritest people in the whole wide world.

gawd, anything for a quiet life!

tamum · 06/06/2006 21:00

Another vote for Nick Park. And if it didn't give away the fact that I've been watching Celebrity X Factor I would nominate Matt Stevens, who just seems all round lovely.

FrannyandZooey · 06/06/2006 21:00

Ah good. That wraps up this thread then :)

DumbledoresGirl · 06/06/2006 21:01

Fern and Philip! Pass me the bucket!

Moomin · 06/06/2006 21:13

surely to goodness no-one can actively dislike dermott can they?!!!!

JanH · 06/06/2006 21:20

I don't dislike David Attenborough - just find his voice a bit irritating.

Love Alan Bennett though (thanks, franke!)

(Did you know his brother is Gordon Bennett?)

FrannyandZooey · 06/06/2006 21:23

I've got it

Gillian Mc Keith

southeastastra · 06/06/2006 21:27

i dislike dermot actively and inactively.

saadia · 06/06/2006 21:42

What about Jill Morrell or John McCarthy - they are so nice and likeable.

milward · 06/06/2006 21:44

Mariella Frostrup.
I love her advice column in the observer (she'd be a top MN-er), she is intelligent and cultured, and a great ambassador for the older working mother.

cheeseypeas · 06/06/2006 22:57

Libby Purves (Author of 'How not to be a Perfect Mother). Fantastic, witty, warm, articulate presenter on radio 4. ???

sorkycake · 06/06/2006 22:58

We love Justin in our house & I see so far nobody has said no.
So far it looks like Dalai Lama, Rhubarb & Justin. That's gotta be a good dinner partyGrin

plummymummy · 06/06/2006 23:03

Davina McCall?
