we have too much crap in garden

sand pit hasn't been filled since last summer

DS is 5, DD is 2 .. neither seem to be too bothered by lack of sand

I can just chuck it can't I?

LadyTophamHatt · 04/06/2006 09:53

ours hasn't ben filled for 2 summers!

Ds3 would LOVE it but we juat have't got around to getting sand for it

sassy · 04/06/2006 09:54

Chuck it! Or if you feel bad, could you fill it with water and use as paddling pool/dabbling area?

Wouldn't be without mine tho, its the one thing that keeps the dds busy for an hour at a time, playing peacefully w/o squabbling. Time for me to clean kitchen - or sit in deckchair, saoking up a few rays!

TheThreeFillyjonks · 04/06/2006 09:54

NO!!!

You must grow salad in it.

You can grow rocket and all sorts. Its educational and more importantly, tasty.

Twiglett · 04/06/2006 09:55

its a huge big green plastic hippo .. I am NOT growing salad in it Grin

Twiglett · 04/06/2006 09:58

LadyTophamHatt · 04/06/2006 09:58

We've used ours as a paddling pool....

hunkermunker · 04/06/2006 09:59

Would it fit in the boot of a Honda Civic Twig?

SoupDragon · 04/06/2006 10:00

Advertise it on the Legendary Freecycle!

cupcakes · 04/06/2006 10:00

we gave ours away. I hate sandpits. Some little so and so always comes round and kicks sand in the eyes of all the other children.

TheThreeFillyjonks · 04/06/2006 10:00

Oh go on, go on, it'd look fab and postmodern!

Twiglett · 04/06/2006 10:04

d'ya want it hunker .. its yours .. I'll even make you lunch Grin

I have been having this 'discussion' with dh for the last two years (have a 2 and 5 year old)
When we moved here 2 years ago,the builder had left a huge pile of sand that they have loved, and which has got smaller and smaller (helped along substantially I know by Mr Moondog, the miserable git.)

Our compromise is for the guy who is making our decking to do one in the decking, with a lid that, when on,forms part of it.
Pretty nifty eh?
The only job now will be to persuade dh to actually open it.

DumbledoresGirl · 04/06/2006 10:28

My 3 year old adores his sand pit - he played i it throughout the winter even! Even my older children use it occasionally, for making battles scenes etc. I can't foresee when we will be able to get rid of ours. Also, the top is used for a paddling pool and mine all demand it to be filled every day the watery sun shines through. If I had a ound for every time I have said to them "No, you can't have a paddling pool, it isn't warm enough..." I wouldn't be in the financial difficulties I am in now!

DumbledoresGirl · 04/06/2006 10:29

That should say pound of course... can't even type the word, let alone get my hands on the real stuff.

FrannyandZooey · 04/06/2006 10:32

I would get rid of other stuff before I got rid of the sandpit, myself. I think a sandpit is a totally fab thing and has lasting play value so they may be more interested in it in a year or two.

moondog · 04/06/2006 10:33

Yup
Sand and water
Play essentials

fattiemumma · 04/06/2006 10:35

freecycle it....there are plenty of single parents that would be very gratefull of it im sure.
