Hi, My daughter has to ask 8+ people a short questionnaire about their choice of nappies (reusable/disposable). All help greatly appreciated. Sarah.

  1. Name?
  2. How many children do you have?
  3. How old are your child/ren?
  4. Do you use disposable or reusable nappies? 5) Why do you use these?
  5. Would you ever use the other? (disposable/reusable)
  6. Why would/n't you?
  7. Did/do concerns of the environment effect your choice?
  8. What other concerns did you have? 10) Would you continue to use this sort of nappy for future children? (reusable/disposable)
  9. Would you recommend these nappies to other people?
  10. Why would/n't you recommend them?

I'm on my phone so can't see the questions as I type but will try and remember them!!

I have 4 dc's, the youngest being 1 yr old twins. We use cloth nappies. We use them for the following reasons

  • cost, twins in disposables would mean spending silly money on nappies. At least with cloth we can sell them on when we are done with them!
  • environment, throwing out a dozen plus nappies a day soon adds up to a heck of a lot of landfill.
  • we generally prefer cloth, they are kinder on the bum (who wouldn't want a lovely fleece liner against their babies bum?!), they come in gorgeous patterns and we've had no leaks with them (unlike pampers)

We aren't planning any more children but if we were we would use cloth again.
Would highly recommend them to anyone, in fact I think midwives should have a few to show their patients. Most people I meet are genuinely surprised when they see how easy cloth is.

I have 1 DS who is 6.5m

I use disposables. I now wish I had used reusables but don't want to splash out on them now as I am reliant on IVF so don't know that there'll be a no2 to continue using them

I am quite conscious of the environment and make every effort to recycle what I can but I do see disposable nappies a a short term thing which for the time being cant be helped. I do compensate by using reusable wipes Grin

I would recommend the brand of reusables I use as they are cheaper than pampers and don't have the chemical smell but would also advise that different nappies suit different bums.

Hello- another on phone so working from memory!

Two dc. Ds 3.8, dd 7 months. Used cloth (bum genius) with ds from about 3 months, Eco disposables before that. Continued with a mix of Eco disposables (never got cloth to work at night as he was very heavy wetter and a boosted enough nappy meant he had his legs stuck apart, and even then it still leaked!). He stayed in cloth until potty training, now just has a pull-up at night time, Aldi are the only ones which contain a wee if he does one overnight. Saved us a fortune (thanks to my parents buying them!) and felt much better about landfill but as a flat dweller felt bad about water/tumble drying inners.

Dd is in a mixture again, we also have some kushties this time which MIL got second hand, I've read poor reviews but they do her well. Eco disposables again for preference but budgetary demands mean also Aldi at times! Don't tend to use them when away this time, with 2 dc can't quite get my head around it.

Used cheeky wipes with both, love them, rave about them. Also carry disposable wipes these days as got into habit with ds once he was out of nappies but think we've used 10 packs in 7 months, if that.

Have recommended and would recommend again.

Not sure if I made clear that bum genius on second child.
