There are 2 files in my c:_restore\temp directory that I want to delete because they appear to be infected with something called "bug bear" I can't simply delete them - how do I get rid of them? They are A02388852.cpy and another similar one.

Can anyone help?

popsycal · 03/02/2004 21:41

right mouse click and delete

Coddy · 03/02/2004 21:42

havent you anti virus s oftware soup?

SoupDragon · 03/02/2004 21:43

And what use is DH going to be??? (if you mean mine!)

I know they're the virus, I just want to delete them. Norton AV won't let me do anything untoward with them but unfortunately this means deleting/fixing/quarantining them too.

Can't delete them Popsycal, if only life were that simple

And Coddy, I've deleted about 30 virus infected emails in the last week, it's ridiculous! I know I've not opened any infected files as I've been ultra careful. They weren't there on Saturday when I last scanned.

Haven't a clue, SB34

I don't think the PC is actually infected with anything. I've had this before and can't remember how I got shot of it.

No, Popsycal, it's not a simple case of deleting the files by any usual method. It's not the teddy bear thing either.

Funny how this coincides with DH getting some cover CD of old Spectrum games which involved visiting a rather dubious website.

Norton AV won't let me delete them - claims they might be in use I think. It could involve exiting to DOS and deleting them from there. I'll try the Symantec instructions (coudn't find them when I looked earlier!)

Hmmm... I need a floppy disc... now where have I tidied them all away to...
