Was thinking about this course for my ds (6 weeks old) has anyone done it before? What is good about it? What is not so good? Thanks

My SIL has done it with her ds and loves it, can't tell you much more than that though I'm afraid. They do a Nirvarna-style photo at the end of the session for you to keep (ie baby swimming under the water).

i did it with dd for 2 years. we both loved it. I learnt to swim late and was quite feardy in the water but this course has helped me overcome my fear of water. the photos are optional (i didn't bother as they are quite expensive). dd is 2.4 now and while she isn't strong enough to swim properly yet she is v. confident in the water and will 'swim' a couple of meters just under the water.

Does anyone know where I can get info on this? Is it national?

There is never anything like this in the highlands, it is so annoying. It's not like we're in the back of beyond. Well, not really.

Yeah, hat put me off was the expense, but then this is my last baby and I do think it will be a fun thing for us both to do. I was thinking of using some of the money he was given when he was born! (cheeky I know but a way of doing it!) Also, I won a baby wetsuit on ebay last night so I'm half way there!

As I thought, I am in south Cornwall, the nearest is in Devon ... ah well .... will carry on with aqua areobics until babes arrives then I think they do classes at the local swimming pool ... that will have to do, living in Cornwall babes will need to swim for sure !

THere's never ANYTHING in N Ireland and if there is it's in the city. What about us bumpkins?

we're currently into the fifth week of the course and so far my dd (7months) has really enjoyed it. You can ring up and arrange to view a session before you commit since, as Notanotter mentions, it is quite pricey! on the plus, the sessions are just about the right duration in time, they are well paced and fun. Whats not so good? - hard to say - suppose, i'd prefer a slightly smaller class - but this is really only a nitpicky criticism!
