Genuinely serious Mooncup question

Despite being pretty squeamish about the thought of them, I'm slowly being sold the idea due to the leakfree-ness (not a word, I know).

The only major concern i have is, what if you need to change it when you are out and about. If you are in a public loo (with cubicles and a bank of communal sinks) I assume you pour the bulk of the blood into the loo pan, but what about rinsing it out ? How do you deal with it ? I'd be horrified if I was stood at the sinks and some woman stood next to me and started washing her menstrual blood down the sink.

I just wipe it out with some loo roll and re-insert and then wash it out as soon as I find somewhere appropriate.
I agree that washing it out in the sink in public is really taking things a step too far!!

bundle · 25/05/2006 10:52

i think you'd take a bucket of water into the cubicle with you Wink

Jeesus hadnt thought about Out and About, what about bottle of water in bag to rinse?

NomDePlume · 25/05/2006 10:53

rofl. Keep a mini bottle of Kabbala water in my bag for such emergencies

misdee · 25/05/2006 10:53

ok, another question. i know i sound like a pathetic wifey here & i don't want you to think i live my life by what dh says, but how did you explain mooncups & your use of them to your male dp's?

wilbur · 25/05/2006 11:22

While we're asking... a while ago I bought a Keeper but found it v inflexible and hard to insert - is the mooncup a little softer? I seem to remember someone saying it had silicone in it and was therefore more flexible. Also, is it okay to use one with an IUD?

I do not discuss my menstrual arrangements with dh! I just wish he would be equally reticent about his bowel movements. I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW! I think he does it to wind me up....

brimfull · 25/05/2006 11:42

I had a rather messy episode with an overflowing mooncup ,desperate need to wee ,public loo ...and no loo rollShock
