If you were to write a book about parenting/children/babies, what subjects would you cover?

And why?

Would it be
pregnancy, childbirth, feeding, weaning, parenting?

I like NG's 'survival guide' this is far more realistic than a book on 'how to do it right'... more survival tips from the doll household:

  1. drastically lower your standards on everything from personal grooming to domestic chores - it will save a lot of frustation later on.
  1. never turn down any babysitting offers - even if you have no money and nowhere to go. go and sit in the park if you have to.
  1. accept early on that you will never be the parent you thought you would be - do not under any circumstances rule out bribery, pleading, and empty threats from your parenting toolbox.
  1. do whatever it takes to get through the teatime/bathtime/bedtime/helltime period.
  1. having a meal used to be a time for relaxation and pleasure - forget this - from now on it has to be a miltary operation to be tackled with grit determination and skilled planning.

I would also include a chapter of witty comebacks to be used when doctors, hv's, mil's etc patronise and critisise new parents about every aspect of parenting...
