what were these ruddy things called? My sister made one for my ds and her dd but we are both stumped about the name - if there ever was one...

No idea if it had a name, but I can still remember how to make one!

ramonaquimby · 08/05/2013 23:15

Chatter boxes!

KatoPotato · 08/05/2013 23:16

A fortune teller!

WandaDoff · 08/05/2013 23:17

I knew it was going to be a picture of one of those, but I don't think I've ever known a name for them.
I too, can still make them.

LittleBoxes · 08/05/2013 23:17

DD calls hers a 'chatterbox'. They're 'cootie catchers' in the US.

I knew what I was going to see before I opened the link, but I'm afraid I can't quite remember what we called them, although I think Kato might be right with Fortune Teller.

We used to make them in the 60s and 70s (yes, I am that old). We called them Fortune Tellers.

SomeDizzyWhore1804 · 08/05/2013 23:21

We called them snap dragons at my school.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/05/2013 23:39

My Brownies call them chatterboxes.

AuntPittypat · 08/05/2013 23:44

Snap dragons here too.

TigerSwallowTail · 08/05/2013 23:50

We made them in late 90s/00s too but never had a name for them, I still remember how to make them.
