lol Fio (you've gone and changed your name again - you flibbertigibbet!)

well, the lady was very nice. very experienced. she drove me to a quiet residential area (which, it dawned on me later was my ex-bf's road) and I drove the car - she did the gears and brake and I did the gas pedal, indicators and steering. We drove around the block a few times and then I drove home - quite tricky.

I have got so much to learn. Its having to do som many things all at the same time - its like rubbing your tummy, patting your head, hoping on one leg and blinking with alternate eyes all at the same time

How are the botterflies now? Grin

Cadbury...I passed in a manual and now I drive an automatic. I see other people driving manual cars now and wonder why they're making such a meal of it - it all looks far too complex, but I am a mouse of very little brain (and no co-ordination!) Blush Grin

Well done Cadders!

I'm learning to drive atm, I have failed 3 tests. Sad

Am very positive this time though - have fab instructor and am actually enjoying it.

Passed my theory test last night (last one expired)

Good luck!!

well done Northener - you'll do fine this time. Someone said to me that confidence is a major part of it.

Aero - the next one is next Wednesday after lunch - is there any chance you could help me out with the childcare? Maybe is you came for lunch and stayed till I get back - I'll bribe you with cake if necessary. Wink

Good luck with the driving lessons Cadbury. I took my test in a manual when I was 22, (when the instructor said I had passed I said "really, are you sure?"!!) I then didn't drive for 12 years - living in London I just didn't need to. I then bought my mum's old car, took a two hour refresher lesson, during which I drove round Piccadilly Circus (HOW scary?!!) and drove that car for two years until someone drove into it :( I have now had an automatic for two months and love it to bits. Driving is great! Scary as hell to start off with, but the extra freedom and ease of getting the littl'un out and about is pretty addictive!

cadbury · 26/05/2006 19:42

Amiable - its the freedom I keep thinking about Smile

Aero, I don't know if you have seen this yet but my mum has just called and asked if she can look after the dcs when I have my next lesson - hope you don't mind.

You would be welcome to pop over with your lot on Wednesday morning if you fancied it and were free. Our student friend is considering it.

Hi girlies!! you are all so brave!

Would you recommend automatic or manual as DD, DP and myself all planning to start lessons soon!!

We are all woosies so lots of advice please!!
[terrified emoticon]

cadbury · 29/05/2006 18:16

Daisymae, it's taken me 16 years to work myself up to starting them - I am very nervous and have been the passenger in a lot of accidents. Sad

I was told that you should learn in a manual so you can drive both types later on.
