Just a thought, but wouldn't a hot was melt the wax sufficiently enough to remove it?

SoupDragon · 24/01/2004 10:46

I thought that but it's kind of smudgy and I wasn't sure it would work if there's not much wax there.

If they are wax crayons Iron between 2 sheets of absorbate paper (like you do for tablecloths and wax candles)

SoupDragon · 24/01/2004 11:33

What's an iron??

KatieMac · 25/01/2004 11:04

Don't ask me DH does the ironing and offered the tip!!

aloha · 25/01/2004 11:10

Put blotting paper over it and iron with a hot iron. It worked for me recently.

SoupDragon · 25/01/2004 12:34

I never thought I'd be contemplating ironing my duvet cover...

I'm in a state of shock. I've run away from the mess downstairs and I can definatley hear the hoover going! It can't possibly be my dh could it?! Its more than likely ds1 hoovering up his micro machines, I shall investigate....

BekkiKay · 25/01/2004 14:05

How embarrassing. My dh is cleaning cobwebs down from the kitchen. Men aren't supposed to notice things like that surely.
How odd Soupy. Ds1 was drawing on our white duvet cover in crayon last night in those same colours! I'll try that- wd 40, now where did I put that? Its too messy in my cupboards to find it. The stains will remain until I tidy the cupboard, but first I shall do the washing up, sort the toys out, put the washing on the line... maybe not eh.

BadHair · 25/01/2004 14:06

WD40 or a babywipes.

SoupDragon · 25/01/2004 14:11

sb34, I said "contemplating ironing". Maybe I can take it to Ironing Angels instead

WD40? Doesn't that leave oily marks? Ooooh, I'm not sure what to try first...

I could really do with help with my ironing, how much generally does it cost to pay someone to do it, anyone know ???? I ahve about 2/3 black bags full of it ATM (i know, disgusting).

KatieMac · 25/01/2004 15:31

Nutcracker - Not only does he do the ironing - but he critisies if I do any (as it isn't good enough)

He also clean the loo, takes out the rubbish, washes dishes, unloads the dishwasher and hoovers

It's a hangover from when he was a house husband and I went to work (now we work from home it would be nice to tell him - but I won't)

Demented · 26/01/2004 00:23

Here's what Kim and Aggie say:-

"To get crayon off carpet, scrape off as much as possible with a knife, then put several layers of paper towel over the mark and press lightly with a warm iron. The towel soaks up the waxy residue."

I know it's not a carpet but may help.

I don't mind the ironing, you can watch telly and drink wine whilst doing it and feel saintly at the same time! (just don't tell DH, as far as he is concerned I hate it )
