I remember my dad doing this with us too.
We are on a caravan site and for the last 5 years we pull up, open the gate and one of our children gets on our lap to pretend to drive the car.My children love doing this. There is a 5 mile an hour speed limit which we stick to.
There is an old woman on the site who has it in for us and has now complained about this.
I just don't know.My children aren't naughty children she picks on them.
Don't want you all having a go at me just wondered if she has a point. The only people that agree with her are the other old people that are her freinds at the moment.

That is disgusting Olive! I would sue, definitely, post-traumatic shock disorder!

I fell badly once wearing those rollerskates that you tied to your shoes. Mum got me a second hand pair that were too big for me. I mean, I could have fallen in the road and been run over by a car!!!!! Cheapskate mother!

the air bag could go off ( you never know)
and it's fun for little children but what about when they are older 0 they may think, well I've done this before and I can drive, no probs.....and they take car and all sorts could happen
there are lots of other fun things to do

MrsMills · 09/05/2006 13:54

Am now worrying about ds taking diggers and tractors on the road without permission when he's a bit older because he rode in one once when he was little!

"Teenager goes on rampage with JCB - police question mother who tearfully blames herself for letting the boy ride in one when he was 2 years old. Owners of JCB to sue mother for past irresponsibility"

just a difference of opinion, no big deal really!

We do it with our children when putting the car in the garage from the drive. I do it with DD because she is a limpet so I can't leave her in the house and other than put her in her car seat to drive 10 yards into the garage, and then have to get her out of the back of the two door car from the far side which I basically can't be bothered to do - it is the next safest place.

It is an offence to drive a car without insurance. It is not an offence to climb a tree, play chase or walk in a field without insurance.

Agree with Twiglett if it was empty land, no issues.

SoupDragon · 09/05/2006 15:35

Yep, I'm with Twiglett too. Genuinely empty land, no problem (you are only putting yourselves at any risk) but this land has other people and property on it so it's no go IMO.

it more the issue with insurance not covering you . air bags crushing the child
