OVEN CLEANING - Do you pay for someone to do yours?

I'm flicking through the yellow pages as my oven is beyond my cleaning abilities. Where do you start?
Has anyone used "oven cleaners" before and how much did you pay roughly?

I will get a quote.

tinyFox · 09/05/2006 07:26

i clean mine myself. Would never dream of getting anyone else to clean it, i would be ashamed at the state of it, lol.Grin

I didn't even know you could get someone to clean an oven.

I just choke on Mr Muscle fumes Grin

SecondhandRose · 09/05/2006 08:36

Get a self cleaning oven, they do it themselves when you're in bed!

flamesparrow · 09/05/2006 08:37

oooh joke time...

What do you call 13 witches in a hot tub...?

... A self cleaning coven! Grin

flamesparrow · 09/05/2006 08:39

2 of my bosses have used them

1 had a speciao offer and it only cost £30 i think.

I was extreamly impressed (and so were they) and the ovens really DID look brand new!

themoon66 · 10/05/2006 09:40

I wasn't aware there were actually people who would come and clean your oven!! Amazing! Not sure I could stand the shame though given the state of mine. Do you think they would get the limescale off my taps while they are about it.

NannyL · 10/05/2006 09:44

umm i dont know, but wouldnt have thought so... the literally take the oven apart and put all the bits in this steaming cauldron of 'stuff' outside the house and then put clean oven back tohether.

I have used Oven Clean www.ovenclean.com twice now, as we moved house while I was pregnant and I didn;t want to be in contact with strong chemicals/fumes. Thee website will help you identify someone in your postcode/area and you can ring them, make an appointment, and get a quote depending on what you want done and how big your oven is. They do range cookers as well. My normal oven was around £35 to clean, plus I had the extractor cleaned and the filter replaced - it was as good as new afterwards. He doesn't take the oven apart, and uses 'green' products, and is al done in 2 hours. He leaves no mess, and you're free to use the oven immediately. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

I've used Ovenclean a few times and it's always come up great :)

I would be a bit wary of products lie Mr Muscle as they are extremely caustic and leave little marks in your oven walls. Smells awful, too :(

I think I pay around £50
