Even closest family only (fratelli, cognati, nipoti) takes us to nearly 60

Let me tell you, I am saving up for the girls' weddings now Shock

sanssoleil · 18/01/2014 00:10

How many girls Annunziata? I have six!!

Annunziata · 18/01/2014 21:27

6!! Shock I've got 3 girls and 4 boys.

Your house must look like an extension of Topshop Grin

sanssoleil · 19/01/2014 00:52

It's like Helena Bonham-Carter's dress-up box!

Feel I need to apologise to you for dropping the P-Madonna bombBlush

Absolutely no idea how you cope with 6! Total respect! I have never been to an Italian baptism either. Dp wont allow me to baptise ds and none of our friends have so far either.
Miserable here weather wise as well

Francagoestohollywood · 19/01/2014 11:40

Oh 6 girls! That is lovely. I find girls are lovely (so far, dd is 9.5...)

Miserable, miserable weather here as well, how boring. I always feel a bit depressed when it's january. Such a long and dreadful month, with nothing to look forward to, as February is just as dreadful Grin.

Have a good, lazy Sunday.

alexpolistigers · 19/01/2014 13:36

Wow! So many children. Not too surprised at Annunziata, I knew she liked lots of bambini Wink

My h has brought the subject up a few times - he would like another one. We already have three, though, and the youngest has special needs. I'm not sure about having a fourth! But very impressed by the two of you!!

Thanks for the colour idioms. I have got a few ready now in a couple of other languages too. So interesting to see the different associations the same colour can have in a different language!

I'm starting to wonder if we are actually going to have a winter this year, it has been so mild. Even in Greece we usually get much colder weather at this time of the year, and here we are wandering around with sleeveless jackets on this year!

Smile
sanssoleil · 19/01/2014 22:30

My father was an Industrial Colour Chemist Alex and there is a lot of research into the 'sophistication' of a language by the demarcations/words they have for colour.....

I am lucky that the eldest is 30 and youngest 9-so its all a bit staggered and several languages in house

I loved a proper Italian Baptism but even Mass at the local suburban church aspyxiates me with minimal incense

I used to take the First Holy Communion photographs,it was a lovely job

Hope you get nice outfit Annunziata-I never get formal occasion wear quite right

Francagoestohollywood · 20/01/2014 09:26

wow sansoleil, how lovely to have so many different ages in the house, I bet you never get bored!

Alex, Envy at your lack of winter. It's been raining for days now, torrential rain. It's not cold, it's milder than it should be, at least if we had the normal january temperature we'd have some snow, which is always nice, at least for the first few hours.

Annunziata, so did you buy anything then?

DrankSangriaInThePark · 20/01/2014 09:37

Saw this pop up in active so am rushing in to wave hello from A$$ End. Wink

Hope you are all well, not spending much time here anymore, but do browse MN occasionally. There was a shout out for Penthe the other day on a Missing MNers thread, so if anyone is in contact with her, tell her she is missed!

Francagoestohollywood · 20/01/2014 11:17

Hello! Hope all is well in A$$ End Grin!

Penthe, I do miss her too.

Rosa · 20/01/2014 12:38

Its stopped raining here ...but its still damp , mild as well. It looks as if it could be getting colder in the mountains next week. Still not sure whats happening if we are going to be going or not...boh!

I am currently soaking my finger in salt water as somehow I have infected under the nail tip and it hurts!!!

Hope weather is improving Rosa- I lived halfway-up a mountain and the damp weather drove me crazy-lots of early morning mushroom picking though and my neighbours were a convent with the most adorable goats-I could hear their bells all day[nostalgia emoticon]

It doesn't seem to be raining today ... Wish we had goats bells instead if blessed church bells . thankfully where we live now don't hear them so much the last place was terrible it was the 2.45 on a Friday afternoon I could never understand.
Finger had a minor explosion last night OUUUCCCCHHH and seems a bit better, water and salt water are magic!

Francagoestohollywood · 21/01/2014 11:59

Ouch Rosa! I agree water + salt work best!

I am 43 and I can't pull off looking grown up. I always feel I dress like a University student in the 90s. On Pinterest I seem to collect pics of beautiful women in their early 20s looking fab in skinny jeans, parkas and big scarves or dainty white sun dresses...

Francagoestohollywood · 21/01/2014 12:51

I spent half the morning cooking, and everything I made (polpettone, ragu' for lasagne and a polenta bake) seem to taste horrible Sad
Feeling depressed.

Rosa · 21/01/2014 19:38

Well I am stuck in the dark ages ... Black , grey , maybe a scarf for colour ( rarely). I have a pink cardigan that every time I put on I take off!! Shoes black or grey ( but I do have bright pink birkenstocks ...Birkenstocks I tell you can't get more aged than that!) I am bored with my look but say when I get the figure I get a new wardrobe... Hence the same stuff year in and year out.
As for Cooking Franca I am in love with my Kenwood Cooking chef . I have pinched a few Bimby reicette but so far I have done risotti , spezzatino, verdure ( cooked pots whilst steaming bieta) pizza base. Done a small bit of roast beef al inglese so really steamed ( very good) . Ragu was very fine as in trittatto fine but it went down well!
