Birth Registration people can't find any trace of my step-daughter??!!

I've just tried to get a duplicate birth certificate for my dsd and they can't find any trace of her. I've got everything right - date of birth, parents names, place of birth, mother's maiden name - but they can't find her! The lady I spoke to was really nice, she's been doing the job for years so knows what she's doing, she was as puzzled as I am

Can anyone think of a reasonable explanation? I can't.....

there is only one other person each with the same name as my dts, and they are both in Summerset, how wierd is that, I wonder if they are siblings too.

NoPearls I have just e-mailed you, thanks again Smile

I've looked on that search facility and there is someone on there with dsd's full name but I can't get at the information without subscribing

waterfalls - I found 2 boys with consecutive numbers (so twins) with the same rare surname as us born in the same town 6 months before my twins - spooky.

I cant find me or one of my dds on that site

alexsmum · 05/05/2006 14:57

i'm not on it either but my brother is!

only the recent ones are definitely on the online index - before 1984 I think it depends on whether they have been manually included in the list - you have to trawl through the actual index pages to find them if not.

NotActuallyAMum · 05/05/2006 15:06

Oh I see - that explains why I'm not on there then Grin

It doesn't take long though if you know the month they were born and you can still search by surname.
