Pay arrangements in what way? If ther are NHS employees they are paid in the usual way - depends on their grade.

would you ever get 5 % extra slary for working "unsocial hours" she was a G grade before (is that right?)

Has there been a recent pay rejigging?

Yes - the pay structure is being changed to help modernise the service. It is called Agenda for Change. If you interested you can read all about it here

In England there are Early Implementer sites which the link will tell you about. Scotland and the rest of Britain is going to join in October this year. The early implementer sites should show up problems which can be ironed out before the nation goes 'live' so to speak. Does that help?

mears · 21/01/2004 13:26

Should have said that in the past you got paid you unsocial hours (weekends, nights, after 8pm etc) monthly as you did them. You didn't get any when on annual leave.
As a G grade (which I am) your unsocial hours were paid at the lower F grade rate.
With Agenda for Change, you pattern of unsocial hours will be looked at and you will receive an average percentage - for some it could be a higher rate than 5%. It will be paid as a percentage of your basic and you will get in when on AL as well. It will save lots of money on the wage administration bill.

mears · 21/01/2004 13:28

One other point - AfC means the end of clinical grading so we won't be called D,E,F,G,H or I grades any more than goodness. Clinical grading was the worst thing to happen to the NHS in 1988.

Ok.. My reason is that My MIl works very long and odd hours -we suspect Not at her desk ()

and she has been spouting forth about how she will get paid for it - she tlaked about it alot.. too much really and we are suspicious anyway...

OP posts:
mears · 21/01/2004 14:46

She will not get paid for unsocial hours unless she is rostered on unsocial hours at the moment IYSWM. The percentage is calculated on the average unsocial hours you do already. If you don't already do them, you won't get paid them with the new pay structure.

codswallop · 21/01/2004 14:51

She does them because of the outreach nature of her job - someone has to be on call because of hte drugs and the patients she has.

Seems to go to a LOT of courses as well - the other side of Leicester .....

She will be entitled to a percentage for being on call which does affect your social life. There perhaps a problem here regarding her application to work rather than the pay itself?
