Don't think anyone else has started a thread on this.
Anyway, Radio 2 are running a competition, the prize for which is a family trip to Balamory (Tobermory), staying overnight and the chance to appear in an episode. The competition is dead easy, just identify 3 classic children's TV theme tunes.
I still haven't worked out links, but its on
bbc.co.uk/radio2

My kids are too old or too young to be interested but sure there must be some of you out there that would just love it.

Oh I see, its the first 2 bars of teletubbies!

Durr says she who has a music degree and should be able to recognise these things.

Dd loves PC Plumb and I think his song is groovy (all together now) I've found your doggy

Am I the only sad person who is trying to remember all the words to the theme tune to sing along?

josiejump · 20/01/2004 22:24

Well I shall just have to enter comp, but not before I've powdered my nose.

misdee · 20/01/2004 22:57

my dd2 is archies love child. well, they do have the same hairstyle. and my dh does a mean archie impression.

suzywong · 20/01/2004 23:06

For all those Plum fans and JulieF who needs the words go here (may need to turn volume down if kids asleep

hoxtonchick · 20/01/2004 23:21

thanks, suzywong, ds is going to be soooooooo excited tomorrow (ok, he can't read, but i can!).

motherinferior · 21/01/2004 08:49

I got very excited when I discovered that site a few days ago. Dd1 and I sang along to it. Several times. She is now kind enough to call me 'mummy, PC Plum's doing his song' so that I can join in.

I cannot STAND Josie Jump.

fuckoffiepie · 02/12/2006 23:15

If you honk your horn, can I step inside?

UnquietDad · 03/12/2006 16:38

Get with it pamina! Josie Jump regenerated at the start of Season 2. She must have absorbed all the energy from the Balamory Time Vortex, or something.....

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 03/12/2006 21:07

AHem unquiet dad think you've spent too much time on Gallifrey!

Mercy · 03/12/2006 21:17

There are people who like Balamory

(mind you after 2 years how many of you/your children are still fans?) Not me! The novelty has well and truly gone.

UnquietDad · 04/12/2006 15:50

Compared with Me Too, Balamory is a positive masterpiece of subtlety and Chekhovian genius.

Agree with some of the subtexts others have found.
Pc Plum and Archie - gay lovers.
Edie - secret dominatrix.
Josie - amphetamine-head.
Spencer - local drug dealer.
Penny P - not really disabled. Like Andy in "Little Britain", she gets up to grab crisps from the counter when Suzie's back is turned.
Suzie - alcoholic manic depressive.

MrsArchieTheInventor · 04/12/2006 15:59

To all of you who think that Archie has his shopping delivered by the back door I can assure you that he most certainly does not!!! (at least in my dreams anyway!)

Posey - I can't find the link on the radio 2 website - can you post it at all?

EdieMcredie · 04/12/2006 18:58

This was started in 2004-thats why you can't find it. Sorry, it's my fault I got all excited b/c of my name!!!!!!!!!
