thinking future wise... for no.3, we're thinkning of the possiblilities of moving ds or dd downstairs... has anyone got their child's bedroom downstairs... pros? cons? or is it just that this is not the usual thing to do and that it doesn't matter?.. (though well aware flat dwellers this is not an issue!!! Wink

why do we sleep upstairs... does this go back to hunter/praedator days and upstairs is our 'tree'???

my husband and I sleep in a converted loft and the children are down one level from us. A few raised eyebrows about this, but it's worked fine for us. They aren't on the ground floor.

im in flat on the second floor ( in the attic) and when mum ( lives downstairs) babysits she just puts them to bed and goes down to ground floor...so we a often all over the house at bedtime.

Hi Bea!
Don't know really - I think it's a little bit strange - but I can't think why!! I suppose because I'd worry about burglars getting into their room first - which I know is silly 'cos the chances are teeny weeny - but that's what would worry me!!

Your kids bedrooms are big though and you're bound to end up with either 2 dd's or ds's - I'd go for bunkbeds?!

Hiya
We live in a 1st floor flat with an upstairs (converted attic).
Upstairs are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom and downstairs is ds's bedroom, living space and also have w.c so he doesn't have to run upstairs for a pee at night. When we viewed the flat i did find it a bit strange idea but it works for us now.
Pros: Easy to chuck toys away, put ironing away and timeout!
Cons: Sometimes i just think it would be nice to all be on the same level!

We've done this in two houses now. DD was downstairs the first time and she didn't really like it. It was right next to the front door and yes was a bit concerned about the fact that her room would be the first.

Now dd & ds 3 &2yrs share a downstairs room, and I don't worry about it at all. We just now have the monitor upstairs with us as before we had the monitor downstairs to hear them when they were upstairs.

It's easy to tidy up, change them if they get dirty etc etc. No cons really except have to come downstairs when they wake at night. But no other option here as only have 3 rooms upstairs (one being a box room) with 4 kids and the downstairs room is the second biggest.

Plus if they are playing in their bedroom you dont have to be constantly up and down the stairs to check they not trashing it.

Hi bea. Our dd sleeps downstairs from us (she's on the first floor, we're on the second). We moved her from the second floor as she's got CP and is getting heavier and heavier to carry. So far no problems. We use a baby monitor still, so we can hear her as soon as she wakes.
