Just stripped ds2's bed and cursed the bed guard as usual. I should take it off shouldn't I? He was 4 in December and, while wrigglesome when asleep, is not as wrigglesome as ds1 was (is - I had to lift him off the edge of his bed and in to the middle only last night).

Shall I ditch the bed guard?

yes. Definitely- unless he likes it.

marthamoo · 30/04/2006 11:41

Haven't asked him. I won't either - he's so contrary atm he'll probably throw a wobbly about it being his bestest thing ever in the whole world. I'm just going to snaffle it I think.

I never thought of getting them. Blush. Put the boys in dead high single beds at only 2 yrs as well. Doh. Fortune favours the foolish I guess as they seem to have survived but it honestly didn't occur to me.

I think ds1 probably did need one - he's one of those kids who's always upside down, half hanging off etc. And, really, he was too little for a big bed when I moved him into it - but he had got utterly hysterical about his cot and refused point blank to go in it. I think he was only about 14/15 months when we put him in a big bed, so he really did need a bed guard. With ds2 though I think it's more a case of we had one knocking around so we put it on. I'm going to take it off now.

Go for it.:)

notasheep · 30/04/2006 11:55

Ditch it,we didnt bother with bed guards-another expense!

What height would he fall if he fell out? Smile

marthamoo · 30/04/2006 11:56

It's just a bog standard single bed, so not far - he falls further crashing off the arms of the settees on a regular basis!

No worries then,he doesnt have a settee guard does he! But do understand the potential throwing a wobbly bit

i had one for dd1, who fell out of bed even with it on. dd2 i couldnt find it when we moved here (just before her second birthday), so havent put it on. but she falls out of bed all the time, i think she'd also somehow fall over it. not gona bother with dd3 lol, she can already climb off my very high king size safely.

marthamoo · 30/04/2006 13:39

It's gone. I'm hoping he won't notice.

We never had them - they fell out of bed a couple of times but that soon stopped. Ds2 could climb out of his cot at 10 months and even falling from that height on a fairly regular basis didn't do him any harm Shock

Freckle · 30/04/2006 13:45

Get rid of it. I just used to put a folded duvet on the floor by the bed, so that, if they did fall out, they didn't hurt themselves.

GDG · 30/04/2006 13:47

Never used a bedguard moo. Ds1 never fell out, ds2 fell out a bit at first but the bed is not that far off the ground and we just put pillows down.
