A friend has just called me to say that someone is being evicted from one of the masionetts in her block. It is owned by the counicl, who's list i am on, and i would probably stand good chance of getting it. However, the reasons that i would stand a chance of getting it are :

  1. It's above a row of shops on the Falcon Lodge estate.

  2. It has no garden

  3. It only has one gas fire to heat the whole property, which could be a problem with dd's asthma.

I know i'm probably mad for even considering ti but i've been in my friends one and she's got it really nice.
The advantages are :

  1. It's cheap to rent, we would be saving 100 pounds a month.

  2. It's close enough to dd's school and nursery

  3. It would mean we could stay in the area, close to family and friends.

What do you think ??????

No nutcracker

Its a crap idea

SenoraPostrophe · 18/01/2004 14:36

Well, you could solve the heating problem by getting some oil-filled electric radiators. Our house is entirely heated by them and if you leave them on low all the time they can be reasonably efficient - would certainly cost less than £100 a month (I think our electric bill goes up by about £30 a month when they're on but haven't been paying to much attention to it lately).

It's a shame there's no garden, but I would put being close to friends and family above that. Especially if they have gardens...

codswallop · 18/01/2004 14:36

castel vale is a btter idea than that.

SenoraPostrophe · 18/01/2004 14:36

codswallop · 18/01/2004 14:37

Totally agree with everything said. Only plus is that we would remain in catchment area for 2 good secondary schools.

Nutcracker - I'm in Spain - in the mountains where it's cold. Have no idea where you are talking about though but I really do swear by those heaters (wish we had more).

fairydust · 18/01/2004 14:59

i know you really want to move - but unless the property / area is right you'll be in the same postion again wanting to move.
