Which radio station do you listen to in the morning?

I always have Radio 1 on in the morning but I really feel I'm too old for such nonsense. Can anyone recommend a station that is entertaining, plenty of music and not too much talking as I can never hear it with four kids having breakfast, that won't make me feel like I'm over the hill. I do actually find Chris Moyles funny but my dh thinks it's pathetic that I enjoy a station for 20 year olds. The kids all moan like hell if I put Radio 4 on.

local one when kids are around and then radio 5 when I'm on my own.

chjlly · 27/04/2006 10:45

I like Radio 1 - never used to but recently really like listening to Chris Moyles

lanismum · 27/04/2006 10:47

xfm, every time.

spursmum · 27/04/2006 11:04

Depending on whether I get a decent reception,
Capital Fm, I love Johnny Vaughn in the morning, he makes me laugh.
Or failing that, one of our local ones Chiltern Fm.

NannyL · 27/04/2006 11:19

local radio station.... ocean fm!

(or sometimes wave 105)

carlk · 27/04/2006 11:20

Kerrang and I'm far too old for it

spursmum · 27/04/2006 11:21

I love Kerrang and so does ds but he prefers to watch it on Sky!!

Cadbury · 27/04/2006 11:21

radio 2. its on all day at my house. and it isn't as old as you might think. They play good music too.

Rafaella · 27/04/2006 11:26

Thanks for the suggestions. Well, Kerrang would please my dh but no one else. Local radio is a bit too, well local, for my liking - god those phone ins!! I'll try Capital, should just about get it. Radio 2, I'll give it a go. What is xfm? What's the one that Jamie Theakston's on - I like him.

Radio 2 here.

spursmum · 27/04/2006 11:27

JT's on Heart.
Maybe you should get a DAB radio as there are more stations and no interference.
Im getting one when I can afford it.

TwoToTango · 27/04/2006 11:32

Heart FM. Great music

cod · 27/04/2006 11:33

lunarx · 27/04/2006 11:45

radio 2. but am missing terry wogan this week :o

joelalie · 27/04/2006 11:46

Radio 4.

You mean there is an alternative... Shock

acnebride · 27/04/2006 11:47

radio 2 radio 3 radio 1 or Classic depending on how fragile i feel and whether or not i am trying to wake dh up or let him sleep...

acnebride · 27/04/2006 11:48

(radio 3 quite user-friendly in the morning and unfortunately Classic/breakfast means Simon Bates which is too much, although at least he doesn't interview anybody or talk much

CristinaTheAstonishing · 27/04/2006 11:48

Radio 4 or XFM.

twocatsonthebed · 27/04/2006 12:13

if you've got DAB, what about 6 music? Phil Jupitus, good music, makes me laugh (we turn over from Radio 4 once they start shouting on the Today programme). And new music as well old, so the sprogs shouldn't moan too much.

don't listen in the morning - usually tune into Matthew Wright on telly.

Fave radio prog and always listen when I can - is Jeremy Vine Radio 2

Used to listen to The Today Programme on Radio 4 on the way to work but now I'm usually still asleep at that time Grin

MissChief · 27/04/2006 12:19

Today on R4 for a bit of doom & gloom and Jeremy Vine on R2 if I'm in later..

Caligula · 27/04/2006 12:20

Today Programme.

Except if I'm driving, when i sometimes turn on to Terry Wogan
