Dyson large load washing machine, got one?

After exploring lots of possibilities my machine is nearing it's last days.

Have thought about a big US one but this would mean taking out a radiator and removing a work surface, so now looking at the Dyson that takes a large load 7kg, don't know what that is in lbs, anyone know?

Also has anyone got one and what do you think of it? Are they energy and water efficient (water meter owner here!). Thanks R.

The best thing Croppy, we've found as they know you or make a point of getting to know you personally, they are prepared to go out on a limb regarding finance etc. Our mortgage is always a problem being self employed, you want to earn as little as poss for tax purposes, and as much as poss to borrow, so catch 22! But we found ours prepared to stand up aganist the home loan people and say, yes I know they can afford to repay, even though the figure don't stack up on paper!

She's great, she's given loads of advice about uni for our daughter and buying her a house or flat when the time comes, she kows where our kids go to school, ages, all sorts. She's been our PM for over 6 years now. Worth every penny!

Okay, I need a new washing machine, I'll get a Bosch, anyone reccommend a particular model. I don't need lots of fancy programmes, I only use two on the present machine with a choice of about 12!!

I need a large drum, fast spin, and a quick wash, reccomendations please!!

Alibubbles, Which? recommend the 2450. The cheapest deal I've seen is £353 for delivery, fitting and taking away the old one. British Gas I think this deal was with. R

I got Bosched today, bought a new dishwasher, washing machine and a fridge for the new flat. Bought the WFL 2450 and was convinced by saleman that as I never ever hang out any washing it would be better for me, save money ( my husband says thats a novelty idea!) as I tumble dry everything. Like the idea of a quick wash 35mins!

SueDonim · 09/02/2002 23:38

And I've just bought a Bosch tumble dryer. It was 'only' £155, when I was expecting to pay more. Being delivered Monday and then it will no longer take four hours to dry everything!

We've already got a Bosch Maxx washing machine and think its wonderful. We're looking at buying a Bosch dishwasher now and wonder if you can recommend them?

SueDonim · 11/02/2002 12:22

We have an 11 year old Bosch dishwasher which is still going strong. When we replace, it'll be with another Bosch.

Just an update on the Bosch 2450, washing brilliantly. Tiny socks getting caught in rubber seal can be a pain and also tablets get caught there if they come out of bag so back to powder again. Definitely recommend it. R

Rhiannon, I went back to liquid as I found that powder tended not to rinse away completely with the 'Quick Wash' (one fewer rinse) option.

Rhiannon · 11/04/2002 15:27

Hi Mooma, the other problem is that it takes 112 minutes to do a wash but apparently this is normal with all new washers. R

Have you tried using the 'quick wash' button? On a 40 deg cotton cycle it reduces the time to about 45 minutes per cycle, and with wash liquid I haven't noticed any residue in the clothes. You can still load cottons to the full weight, although if you use 'quick wash' on the wool or delicates programmes, you have to reduce the amount of laundry. I guess that's because it doesn't agitate as much.
I have to stop as my teenage daughters accuse me of being the 'saddest person in the world' when I post about laundry.

Rhiannon · 12/04/2002 13:54

Thanks Mooma, did try that with the wool wash for my DS's school duffel coat. It came out still muddy, so haven't used it since but will. R

Another vote for the Bosch Maxx washing machine - we are also about to need a new dishwasher, what Bosch ones could you recommend as we are really pleased with the washing machine!
