no body noticed that dd2(21 months) has been in the bathroom and put the plug in the sink and turned both the taps on..didnt realise till water started gushing through the kitchen ceiling.
ive turned the taps off and put towels on the floor, but the ceiling is bulging slightly and there is a crack..what am i going to do, im about to move...oh god, i cant beleive this has happened..Sad, is my ceiling going to collapse??

Well, I would get off the computer if i were you!

It might hold but then again.....poor you!

What a bummer!

milge · 22/04/2006 13:54

If you've stopped the water running into the bulge, then probably not.

spacecadet · 22/04/2006 14:10

Make a tiny hole in the bulge and be ready with a bucket!

Flip · 22/04/2006 14:13

Phone your insurance company. We've just claimed for two new leather sofas, two pairs of curtains and two rugs courtesy of ds2 drawing planes and boats on them in permanent marker while I was in the shower!

Flip · 22/04/2006 14:14

Hi Janh, long time?

Janh · 22/04/2006 14:15

Hi, Flip! Veeeery long time...I have to work too hard these days Smile - how are you?

hunkermunker · 22/04/2006 14:16

Oh, SC Sad

Ring your insurance co definitely.

Janh · 22/04/2006 14:17

sc, the little bulge is because it's damp - if you can get all the remaining water out it should shrink back when it's dry and then you can fill and paint. Don't ring insurance co. yet.

hunkermunker · 22/04/2006 14:19

Or do what Jan says Blush

We had a leak in the bathroom from a pipe in the loft the day before I had DS1 (waters going all over the show!) - we have pipe bursty flood insurance so I rang them - we have a small bulge in the ceiling but it's dry above now so it's fine.

Flip · 22/04/2006 14:23

I'm okay Janh, how are you? Why working so hard? I've spotted your name on the threads a few times but usually at ridiculous hours when anyone without a newborn should be sleeping.

Janh · 22/04/2006 14:25

Well I have an actual job which requires me to work from 1pm-9pm on Sun-Tue atm (hours change after next week, hooray) so I get home c 9.30pm and then have me tea and then take hours - with wine - to wind down....hence silly o'clock postings! Grin

Flip · 22/04/2006 14:28

What are you doing?

Janh · 22/04/2006 14:43

It's a holiday cottage reservations call centre - OK when it's busy, a bit turgid if not.

Janh · 22/04/2006 14:51

(Plus I'm now doing activities listings for 5 (sometimes 6) counties for Primary Times which is full-on for 2-3 weeks every half-term.)

Flip · 22/04/2006 14:53

Wow, you are busy. Are you going to the Northerners meetup in Manchester?

Sorry for the hijack to SC!

spacecadet · 22/04/2006 16:30

spacecadet · 22/04/2006 17:03

im off now to cry my eyes out and make myself a coffee.

OP posts:
Flip · 22/04/2006 17:12

Don't cry! Just open a bottle wine and everything will sort itself out.

Janh · 22/04/2006 17:21

sc, could you rig up a prop to support the bulge and push it flatter? Stand a broom on a chair or something, with the head wrapped in a towel or with a piece of board on top, and wedge it under the saggy bit?

Have a good cry first though, it is horrible when houses do this to you. Sad

spacecadet · 22/04/2006 19:17

have had a good cry.
ceiling has gushed some more doesnt look so bad now.
