Would like to know if it is considered abit cheekey to take around a bag full of toys to MIL. The thing is she's had the same box of McDonald\KFC freebie toys for about 6 years now and whenever i suggest i bring some around as we have heaps, she doesn't seemed particularly thrilled by my suggestion!

Kids get so bored there, as they are confined to one room only and everything is v. laura ashley! I spend my whole time on edge. Thinking of taking ds's vtech around to plug into there telly but FIL is v. precious with his gadgets, so i think that will go down like a lead balloon. Any suggestions?

As long as you offer to take her old toys to a charity shop so she's not left with twice as much clutter...
How about some more traditional toys, grandparents prefer them anyway - big pads of paper, some smart colouring pens and pencils etc. Stuff that can be packed up nicely and grandparents can be proud of. Or some videos from a charity shop that your kids haven't got?

good idea my mil asked me years ago to get some toys for her grandkids to playwith she still has toys in her cupboard and the great grandkids play with them surely anything is better than a bored child.

MIL went out and bought a small plastic toy chest and adds stuff to it from car boot sales/ charity shops. It means the kids have always got something to play with when we get there. A life saver on occasion.

Very thoughtful my MIL

My kids always had a toy cupboard at my parents' house.

Mine have toys at both sets of grandparents' houses. MIL has dh's old toy cars, which they LOVE and my mum has my old toy cars too, some toys that I've given her, paints and pens etc.

And my dad is in the middle of building a humungous and very flash train set in the garage, so they're never short of things to do.

My mum has a box of toys that a friend has given her as they are too young for her kids, but great for mine. My sister also adds the noisiest toys from her house (or so it seems to me!).

My MIL has heaps and heaps of stuff, lots of it left from dh and his brother and sister, plus half of Mothercare's toy section. Drives me mad, actually.

I think one box is adequate. I think the suggestion of the more traditional toys is great, and paper and crayons a must.

Could u take a box/bag round and accidently on purpose forget it? wouldn't take the vtech if fil is prescious about his gadgets
