Georgina, last night's episode was neither written or directed by Joss Whedon and, yes, I think it showed
Twiglett!!! You don't ask for much do you????
OK, briefest of brief plot synopsis:
Angel came to Sunnydale to bring Buffy some amulet that was crucial to the whole thing. I think he was there when she killed Caleb (phwwwoooar!). Everything was going @rse over t*t in Sunnydale and everyone but the demons and vamps and the Scooby Gang et al left. All was shaping up for thr battle to end all battles - many people had sex (Xander and Anya, Faith and the sexy headmaster, Willow and her potential slayer bit-of-stuff, but Buffy and Spike didn't - they just got slushy and emotional)
Then they all went off to do battle as the Hellmouth opened in the school - hordes of demons came out (it was very Lord of the Rings). Anya got killed saving Andrew. Then Spike had to do his big hero bit, he had the amulet and Buffy was going "no, leave, come with us" and he was going "no, I have to do this" and I don't really know what was happening but all was chaos and destruction. Then Spike sort of disintegrated in fire and Buffy and everyone else got in a school bus (yes really!) and Sunnydale fell into a big gaping chasm and Anya and Spike were dead and the Slayer stood there looking at the chasm with Giles, Willow, the remaining potentials, Xander (sad cos Anya carked it), Andrew etc. and someone said "well..what now" and Buffy just stood there with an enigmatic smile on her face and ...THE END...and is that the longest sentence ever written?
Then 1st episode of Angel, Angel got the amulet in the post and Spike morphed out of it only he's a sort of ghost, not corporeal, and he's fading away and going to Hell and only Fred knows and is trying to help him. And everyone knows now that he sh*ed Buffy and Angel is not a happy bunny about that at all.
Phew, got to lie down in a darkened room now...
