Disgusted and so annoyed

God I'm fuming.

I'm organising a CHARITY premiere at the moment at work and have sent emails to loads of well known people and their agents asking them to buy a ticket to the film.

Tickets cost £125 with proceeds going to Centrepoint who help homeless and socially excluded people rebuild their lives.

Some of the people I emailed were in one of the 7 films that are coming out. One of the agents of these people just sent me such a rude email basically saying how dare I ask his client to buy a ticket when he was in one of the films, (incidentally not the one being shown at the premiere) and telling me he was disgusted etc.

I'm so angry about it and as I can't tell him what I really think about him I have to vent it here.

What a pig of a man. It's £125 out of a wealthy mans pocket going direct to a worthwhile charity. Agggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh - what is wrong with some people.

I had to apologise for offending him and say of course his client would be welcome as our clients guest and that I was just doing my job and trying to raise money for the charity and what I want to say is 'well f off then you tight disgusting pig and I'll let everyone else know who does buy a ticket and attends exactly why you're not there'.

Just think sweet thoughts Thomcat and think Aloha!! There are nice people out there, there are, there are.

Thomcat, aren't you tempted to leak it to a tabloid?

Hulababy · 13/01/2004 17:05

Thomcat. The agent sounds very unpleasant and probably thinks himself so 'very important'. It'd be interesting to know if the actual actor was aware of this or if the agent was acting off his own back.

At least you know that YOU are doing a good thing!

Browbeaten · 13/01/2004 17:06

Can't you anonymously tell the one of the tabloids about the tight arse and see if he likes the publicity!! The richer you are the meaner you are it seems.

Browbeaten · 13/01/2004 17:06

Sorry www beat me to it!!

StressyHead · 13/01/2004 17:08

message withdrawn

pie · 13/01/2004 17:08

This is where we really need a :rolleyes smilie...how rude and presumptuous are some people?!?

ThomCat · 13/01/2004 17:11

Honestly girls - I'm SO annoyed. I just want to go home now and cuddle Lottie and then drink wine and start afresh tomorrow. His tone was so nasty that I'm finding it very hard to just forget it and move on. What a w*er!

The person actually involved in the film probably doesn't know no and if I get the chance to drop his pig of an agent in it when I meet him I bloody well will, very subtly of course. I'll say something like so sorry I offened you and by asking you to donate to the charity Centrepoint, still glad you're here and hope you had a great night.'

Some agents are a different breed of people aren't they.

Dropping the agent in it sounds like a great idea Thomcat, even if just to make yourself feel better.

Enjoy your cuddles with Lottie!

JJ · 13/01/2004 17:57

Ooh, sounds good. Hopefully the client will be so embarrassed he'll make an even bigger donation!

fio2 · 13/01/2004 17:59

I am not suprised you are annoyed Thomcat! What a complete idiot that agent is. I would subtley mention it too

Trifle · 13/01/2004 18:15

I agree the agent didnt need to be rude but his client probably gets hassled continuously by charities wanting his money and, for all you know, he may well already subscribe to ones he feels more closely to. I too get fed up being hassled by people shaking their cans outside supermarkets and have been given grief by one when I refused to cough up into his Children in Need tin. I dont see why I should have to justify not giving him some money as, for all he knows I may well have already made a large donation. All charities are worthwhile but you have to draw the line somewhere as to where your hardearned money goes. You cant possibly support them all nor should you be condemned if you feel something like breast cancer awareness is more important than Centrepoint.

Jimjams · 13/01/2004 19:00

hey but hang on- the guy still gets a ticket. Why should he get it for free when others on a lot less money are paying. Surely wangling a freebie from a charity is in bad taste?

codswallop · 13/01/2004 19:01

leak it o popbitch - or sen the details to me and i will

motherinferior · 13/01/2004 19:02

Doesn't surprise me, at all. (Quite irrelevantly, I used to run the press & PR at Centrepoint.)

oliveoil · 14/01/2004 11:56

Not surprised in the slightest. I used to work in the music business and you would not believe the ego strops occuring over seating plans for free tickets, yes FREE tickets 'what row is it on, is there a backstage pass, can my brother's sister's neighbour's dog come as well etc etc'.

Arseholes the lot of them.

aloha · 14/01/2004 12:15

Agents are MONSTERS Thomcat! A friend of mine's work involves coralling celebs into a glossy and you should hear her on the subject. They are much worse than their clients and some of them are plain scary and deeply unpleasant. The LA ones are the most terrifying people in the world. I've been yelled at for nothing more than once. Even small time players get egos bigger than planets. But I think they are miserable, shrivelled people inside and everybody loathes them. But you are a lovely person with lots of love in your life so you are the winner. I do know what you mean though! So glad I don't deal with them anymore.

codswallop · 14/01/2004 12:17

Popbitch it = go on thomy poo

ThomCat · 14/01/2004 12:44

Nah - it's not worth popbitching it mate.
I was just so angered by his attitude. If he doesn't think his client should contribute to the charity for whatever reason then so be it, he's the one that has to live with himself, not me. It was just that there was no need to be so outraged that as it is a charity premiere that his client was asked to pay for his ticket. I understand that his client was in one of the films and that he perhaps is approached by charities all the time. However I know he wants to come to this premiere and I'm hardly going to start offering free tickets out to people. Most agents are just as Aloha described them that's all - rude and ignorant and self absorbed.
