Cheapest ferries anyone?

Needed for dh when he travels from France to the UK in July. We can't use any ferry company like CondorFerries because he has a high van with a caravan and they won't take it.

No Calais crossings either, it has to be from Cherbourg, Caen or San Malo.

Lucycat · 17/04/2006 17:29

Rhubarb · 17/04/2006 18:22

Hi, rhuby Smile

I remember going through this when you went, all those years ago Sad

Why is Calais no good?

Rhubarb · 17/04/2006 18:28

Too far for him to drive, when you consider petrol, a stop over and everything, he's better off going for the other ports such as Caen, Cherbourg or San Malo.

I know, I remember this when we set off too. It's awful and I'm finding it really really hard tbh. Our flight back is booked, Wed 13th July. Sad

Is £82 a lot or not?

Janh · 17/04/2006 18:34

That was \link{http://travel.norfolkline.com/default.asp?ID={20AD366D-2034-4F0E-B61E-967A9CF9A25E}\Norfolk LIne} from Dunkirk, I can't remember how far that is - is it further than Calais?

Oh it is, just checked, bum. Sorry.

Oh good - that seems v reasonable for the amount of space needed Smile

Rhubarb · 17/04/2006 19:43

It'll take him 8 hours to drive there though, no sleep on the ferry, it departs at 5pm and gets there at 9.30pm. He'll have to stop over somewhere on a layby and sleep overnight. But at least he should be back in Lancs by Friday night, which means he can babysit on the following Sat - and what is happening on Sat 17th July??????????

Mumsnet Northern Meet-Up!!!
