rumtumtigger · 14/04/2006 14:56

Don't worry about sounding big-headed, just list it all down! It is highly positive to recognise you are good at stuff and what stuff that is!

Unfortunately I can't do it yet!

Running a house on a shoestring budget - not buying stuff we don't need.

Holding a conversation about Thomas and Percy, and how they are hiding in the tunnel from Poohbear, while typing on the computer.

Spotting when people are concealing the truth from me.

groggymama · 14/04/2006 15:20

lurking
drinking tea
washing up
cuddles

lilstarry1 · 15/04/2006 17:34

Being honest (apparently lots of people struggle with this)
Laughing - at myself
Cooking
Multi-tasking
Admitting when I'm wrong/apologising
Making the most out of a bad situation
Remembering the inane rubbish that keeps the house running
Separating the washing into the correct loads :)

Come on RTTigger, I bet there is LOADS you are good at, just need to think outside the box (another thing I'm pretty adept at!)

rumtumtigger · 15/04/2006 17:45

Thanks lilstarry1 -
I am good at saying sorry when I am wrong too
and good at laundry

More More.
Are you good at typing? Spelling? Reading? Smiling at strangers? I bet the more you think about it the more you will realise just how many talents you have.

It's rather difficult to begin with, it's a real shame we live in a society that teaches us to suppress our sense of pride and achievement for fear of being arrogant/conceited/proud

CaptainCavemansMummy · 15/04/2006 20:49

I'm a great mummy to ds, we always have lots of fun and I try not to shout at him (Unless he deserves it!).
I'm a good mediator and good at my job.
I'm good at drinking white wine Wink

Surfermum · 15/04/2006 20:50

Well as you mention it, typing and shorthand and I was good at being a medical secretary! (ooh that feels weird and big headed to say it, but loads of my bosses told me I was).
Being able to laugh, no matter what life throws at me.
Amusing people with my antics when I get drunk (so I'm told).
Eating dsd's chocolate then hiding the evidence.
Ten pin bowling (used to be anyway).
Making chilli.
Finding dd's ticklish spot.
Finding a bargain.
Letting my mum and older sisters run round after me Blush.

rumtumtigger · 15/04/2006 20:53

At my daughter's school they have a circle of appreciation each week for a different child. The child sits in the middle and the rest of the class have to put up their hand to say what they like or appreciate about that child. How lovely is that?

I think you are correct lilstarry1 that more may come for me! It's just typical of me that the first thing I can come up with is being able to apologise for getting things wrong!

Ok...I am quite good at spelling and I love words - I know and use a lot of them!]

I am loyal and an idealist, and I think those are good qualities. Give me some more of yours!

I'm good at thinking on my feet.
I'm good at being creative (I can see some random ingredients/card/beads and come up with a meal/scrap book/game)
I'm good at encouraging others
I'm good at seeing the positives in people/things.

.... I think the appreciation circle is an absolutely divine idea, too bad as adults we don't have anything similar. We are continually reminded to instil confidence in our children, yet very often as parents we have little confidence in ourselves! I am desperately practising accepting my DP's compliments instead of shrugging them off/rejecting them. I think it's important my DD sees that I am also a confident, talented, proud woman..

HonorMatopoeia · 15/04/2006 21:10

remembering car number plates (don't ask!)
Naming a song from first few seconds (useful in pub quizzes)
Worrying (does that count?)
Cross stitch
teaching
...... I think.

rumtumtigger · 15/04/2006 21:13

OOOooh ooooh I got one
I am good at accepting compliments - I just say thank you and I make sure dd does the same!

I am very very good at knowing how to angle furniture so it will go through tight doorways / up winding staircases...but no one ever believes me!
