Someone posted this link ages ago to a site they had put together

\link{http://www.hertsweddingcars.co.uk/days_out/.\days out}

Definitely recommend Langleybury Farm and Aldenham Country Park for a cheap day out. We tried the Tring museum recently but the animals at his eye level were too scary for ds2 (age2)

Coo, thanks, KTP - I have just bookmarked that (very useful map too Grin)

The URL says "hertsweddingcars"!)

Yes I think the wedding cars bit was her dh's business - maybe just used his website to tack her own onto - can't remember who posted it though

Van Hage Garden centre, Ware. They have a miniture train, about 60p per person per ride, they used to have an small animal bit, think its still there but we havent looked at that bit for a while, and they have a place that sells outdoor play equipment, and my kids normally play on it for a bit and so far nobody has complained. They also sell Wendy Houses and my 2 love playing in those 2. They also have a pretty good restaurant/cafe that sells decent kids food. And a lovely shop area to wander around. I have a 2 and 3 year old and they like it and kills a couple of hours.

Also can recommend Standalone, went there the other day, nice big area for them to run around, nice play equipement, mini tractors to ride around, animals, ducks etc. But take a picnic, it only has a basic cafe, but you can eat your food in the barns if the weather isnt good. Oh and also has another miniture railway, not one that you can ride on.

Woodside Animal Farm is also good, small but they have a lovely fair ground area, its on the way to Luton.

Fort Knebworth, never been, probably OK for your 6 year old, possibly OK for your 3 year old, no good for your 1 year old.

Oh, and a bit cheeky, but you can also wander around Toys R Us in Stevenage, my 2 think thats a real treat and totally free as long as you can be strong enough not to buy anything. You can normally see me trying to prize the dolls pushchair off DD1 and trying to get out.....

Cassiobury Park in Watford is also good in the fine weather - splash pools, miniature railway, playground and canal nearby (they always love watching the locks being opened)

misdee, i'm so glad you started this thread. i was thinking of things to do with a 3yr old who has cerebral palsy, a 2yr old and an 8month old and 6 months pregnant.
I also live near to you and find it a nightmare trying to find cheap things for the kids to do.

misdee · 12/04/2006 20:58

lilliana, did u meet my sister at dolphins a while back? any luck with moving eyt if you are the same person.

\link{http://www.woodsidefarm.co.uk/index.asp\Woodside}is nice but a bit dear (£19 for misdee + girls) - \link{http://www.meadopenfarm.co.uk/activities_seasonal_overview.asp\Mead} at Leighton Buzzard ditto though slightly less expensive (£16).

If you thought you might visit them, or Willows Farm, often it would be worth getting annual tickets.

lilianna · 12/04/2006 21:03

hi yes i did. although i haven't been for a while.
hoping to do an exchange soon just waiting to hear from the council.

Janh · 12/04/2006 21:11

There's also \link{http://www.sheprethwildlifepark.co.uk/park/park.htm\Shepreth} near Royston - dear but lots there including a toddler soft play area (at least I saw a picture before, but can't find it now!)
