... to make towels soft and fluffy... how much do you put in?

Only, I've tried it - towels are nice but reek of vinegar, so I'm guessing I put too much in! Blush

Also is there somewhere you can buy distilled white vinegar in bulk, cos I can see this getting expensive...

Does it work? Never tried it, how much did you use?

GeorginaA · 11/04/2006 17:29

Seems to - I should probably state that I've started to use one of those Lakeland washball things so I cut out the fabric conditioner too - thought I'd try the vinegar route just for towels.

I found a site which said 2 cups (american site) but that seemed an awful lot so I just put in the equivalent of what I would put in fabric conditioner wise (topped up the fabric conditioner tray to the dosage mark)

Do you tumble dry them?

Tatties · 11/04/2006 17:32

I put a slosh in the conditioner compartment - maybe half full? - when I'm doing my nappies. Don't know if I am using the right amount, but they have never come out smelling of vinegar.

I fill up the conditioner drawer. And then add about 8 drops of essential oil so it smells better! Atm I have tea tree. Have used lavendar too.

GeorginaA - Are those balls anygood?? I have seen them in Lakeland, but they are £10ish for 2

fuzzywuzzy · 11/04/2006 17:34

I put in the same amount I would conditioner, in the conditioner draw, and then run an extra rinse cycle.

Could it be that you put 2 mugs full in, and not 2 cup fulls?

GeorginaA · 11/04/2006 17:36

I did tumble dry today cos it was pissing it down - normally tumble dry towels for 20 mins before hanging them out to finish drying on a good day. Had horribly scratchy towels recently, so in desperation mode.

Ooo - good idea with the essential oil, yorkie. Will try that.

Naughty: seem to be. I can't quite bring myself to trust them completely yet though - if I have a horribly dirty load (like the sicky sheets during a D&V bug) I revert to normal washing tablets. Still, it's saving a bit of money I suppose :)
