Some one i know has just emailed me to say that a friend of hers lives in a 4 bed house on castle vale (birmingham). She has decided to buy somewhere but has said that if we are interested then she would be willing to exchange with us and then move out to buy. Does that make sense ??
Now i really don't know what to do

FD, won't you still have to get the coucil's permission to exchange? If they think it is too big for your needs they might refuse you. Check it all out first before you accept.

Sorry, meant Nutty!

nutcracker · 09/01/2004 16:42

JH - I was looking at Wakefield because it was the only area i could find with very short waiting lists.

The results for the secondary school were crap but again i think it depends alot on the child. DD1 is very bright. I would probably try to exchange again though to a better area before she left juniors. Housing associations and councils are usually willing to bend over backwards if you are down sizing.

Lou - from what i've been told as long as the two parites are in agreement and noone would be overcrowded then they usually allow it. Believe me i would kick up a fuss if they refused, wether i want it or not.

From someone waiting on the transfer list in Lambeth I would say GO FOR IT! Chances like this only happen once, and you'll kick yourself if you miss out.

This situation will now be added to my list of housing fantasies, along with winning the lottery, mysteriously moving to the top of the list, and a previously unknown but incredibly rich relative leaving me a fortune/nice house

nutcracker · 09/01/2004 16:59

You have my sympathy LL. Are you overcrowded ??

Four of you in a four bed sounds ok to me ! We are 6 in 3 beds, and one of those was our dining room ( not council or HA now though). I can't see why there would eb a problem, just wanted you to make sure it would be ok. Good luck!

nutcracker, same as you, 3 kids in two bedroomed flat although ours is on the ground floor! Must dash dd is having screamy colicy session!

nutcracker · 09/01/2004 23:23

Coddy - My history teacher was Mrs Aires (spelling). Not sure who the naughtiest one was. Stuart Lawson was o.k but i don't remember him doing drama. Stuart Nicholson on the other hand was my dream bloke. Other people in my class were Dawn Evans, Stephen Freer, Sarah Garner, i can't believe how hard it is to remember names. Another name i remember is Craig Knox, he was a trouble maker but wasn't in my form. I was in Dudley.

why not look on friends reunited to find out names....??

lydialemon · 09/01/2004 23:31

Looked on Friendsreunited with my sister on Tuesday only to discover that one of the mums at my school who I knew slightly was in fact one of my sisters BFs from primary school. I always wondered why she looked familiar....

JanHR · 09/01/2004 23:31

Nutty, you joining us in the bar tonight

stupidgirl · 09/01/2004 23:47

Sleep on it. ALways helps me make important decisions.

codswallop · 10/01/2004 08:04

yes Mrs ayres left after - had a tragic personal disaster - did you read about it inthe paper?

misdee · 10/01/2004 10:11

i'd go for that. i recently got transfer from a lovely HA brand bed 2 bed ground floor flat with 2 kids, to a large 3 bed masionette on a 'bad' estate. tbh i've found the people here friendlier, the noise is less, the police arnt over as much as they were on the so called better devolpement.

the schools fall into the same catchment area so it doesnt bother me too much, and am closer to amenities, tho i wouldnt go down the shops at night.
