Hi.
As i went to bed last night there was a bit of noise outside and i looked out. There were a few teenagers, 3 boys and a girl and they appeared to be drinking and having a laugh.
I remember thinking that she looked very young and that if all 3 got lairy she'd be in trouble but dismissed my thoughts. I did breifly consider ringing the Police.

This morning the whole area is cordoned off and i've had C.I.D round asking if i saw anythingSad

So to Nbg, good for you for following your instincts and i wish i had.
Feel terrible that if i'd rang at that time i might have saved that young girl from God knows what!!

OMG - have been in that situation and wish someone had phoned. But you can never tell.
I hope she's ok, if it is her that this incident is about.

I wish i had Sad

So, has something actually happened to her then?

Angeliz · 05/04/2006 10:44

They didn't go into detail but said there was an alegation of assault.

It could just have been a "spat" between the lads once they had drunk too much that went too far, don't get too caught up in guilt it may also have been between two totally unconnected people, which you could have done nothing about.

Angeliz · 05/04/2006 10:48

secur, that's what i'm hoping, that it was just the lads having a fight.

Guess it it's more serious i'll see it on local news.

Cordoning off and CID would indicate a serious assault IMHO - for example we once had a youth bashed over the head with a broken wine bottle outside our old flat - the loca boobies came too a pic of the stains and left. It was not cordoned off per se...

madmarchhare · 05/04/2006 10:54

It might not even be anything to do with the people you that you could see.

Even if it was, and you had phoned, they would have been moved on (maybe) and something could have happened somewhere else.

bubblerock · 05/04/2006 10:59

Don't feel bad angeliz, you weren't to know anything was going to happen.

Piffle - local boobies?? Shock

Angeliz · 05/04/2006 11:00

...snigger...at boobies.

TBH, that's why i thought it must be serious.
There were Police, C.I.D and two more Police with gloves scanning the ground.
Only time will tell.

I hate to say it, but if my experience of ringing the police when there are a small number of drunk youths hanging about if they aren't causing any damage etc, even if you suspect that one of them MIGHT be in danger, is that they really aren't interested. I'm not sure that calling them would have done any good.

edam · 05/04/2006 11:14

Must have been a shock, Angeliz. Don't think you can blame yourself in any way. But think I'll bear this in mind next time I see something that could turn nasty. OK, police might not act on it, but at least you'd know you'd done what you could.

dinosaure · 05/04/2006 11:23

Angeliz, if there was nothing particularly going on at the time, then I don't think the police would have done anything anyway. Please don't beat yourself up over it.

zippitippitoes · 05/04/2006 11:28

You may not have made any difference if you had rung. I'm often in this dilemma and sometimes I ring and sometimes I don't.

No way you should feel guilty and, try not to jump to any conclusions.
