Would it be possible to register with a supermarket tonight, place an order tonight and get it delivered on Friday do you think? How reliable are they? Do they ever just not show up? Do you pay before the food comes?

If they have available delivery slots then yes. Think most are reliable but the alternatives if something is not in stock can be a little strange. The money is debited from your account before delivery I believe.

foxinsocks · 04/04/2006 20:49

your first order will take a while for you to do- after that (certainly sains/tescos) they save your order so it's much quicker

Friday - yes, I imagine that's still possible. You normally choose a slot before you start shopping.

Reliability - depends, mostly they are OK but they can be late and they can completely screw up your order but mostly, things work ok

you pay when the food is shopped for you in the shop - so imagine someone going round picking your food and then putting it through the till (so if you chose Friday, your transaction would be processed on Friday). You essentially pay on delivery

Tesco online has lots of delivery spaces for friday.Ive never had any problems with them.Payment taken off card before they deliver.

DumbledoresGirl · 04/04/2006 20:52

Yes to getting the food by Friday. Before you place your order, they show you what slots are available - or at least Sainsburys used to (some time since I have ordered online) so you can find out if Friday is available simply by registering.

IME they are very reliable. They never don't show up, they are always within the time slot chosen. The only unreliable thing is they dond't always have all the items you ask for. They sometimes provide alternatives but you don't have to acept them if you don't want them and you don't payu for anything they can't provide.

The money is taken from your credit/debit card automatically after the food has been delivered and you have okayed anything that wasn't exactly what you ordered (see above).

okay quick question. I'm looking for a cottage pie to feed 4 people about. How big should that be? Some say 500g but don't want to end up with a ready meal for one Grin

who are you doing your shopping with? I might have a code you can use to get money off your order.

DumbledoresGirl · 04/04/2006 20:56

Wouldn't have thought 500g was enough. We are a family of 6 (children aged 3- 9) and I sometimes buy a shop bought lasagne weighing 1kg.

foxinsocks · 04/04/2006 20:56

you def need more than 500g

do you mean 4 adults? you'd prob have to go for 1kg

enter whichever code suit you (at the end of your shop)

XX-KFH6 £10 off for orders over £75

XX-CRDJ £5 off for orders over £50

Thats all I can find at the moment but I hope they help.
