snafu · 02/04/2006 19:00

Nor me. Although the thighs are not bad.

spidermama · 02/04/2006 19:01

martian I didn't wish to cross swords with you again. (tremble) Wink

We've been getting on so well of late.

God, are you looking for a fight????? Grin

My collage, at oxford.

there, said it. You'll hate me forever now! Grin

Wouldn't care except we used to live in Hammersmith backing onto the river. And the crews could race from Putney to Hammersmith bridges faster than we could run 150 yards from our front door to the river bank which I always found impressive.

Feistybird · 02/04/2006 19:03

Oh I do - heralds the start of spring for me.

spidermama · 02/04/2006 19:05

I only watch it to get a glimpse of the road I used to live in in Putney Smile

Each year, we became prisoners in our own homes because of the blinkin boat race.

Blandmum · 02/04/2006 19:07

You can call me whatever you like as long as you don't call me late for lunch!

Boom Boom!

MrsBadger · 02/04/2006 19:10

love it, never miss it, but spent far too long immersed in the rowing world so can quite understand why no-one else cares what Oxford were rating at the start/under Barnes/at the Eyot etc.

Blandmum · 02/04/2006 19:14

The thing is, they make it look so easy and it bloody isn't! And it is such hard work!

And to do all of that and do a Phd in cellular neurology takes some organisation!

notasheep · 02/04/2006 19:52

Dream of ds being in one of those boats one day

JoolsToo · 02/04/2006 19:58

it's one of the lasting English traditions - it's great (especially when they sink Grin

I give a flying toss. I didn't go to Cambridge university but grew up there and used to row on the Cam.
I don't give a flying toss about football but I seem to have to endure that the rest of the year. It's only one day.

notasheep · 02/04/2006 20:06

no public schools here, they train in the sea

MadameDeMars · 02/04/2006 20:07

I used to live in Putney across the road from where the race started. We'd go across every year and watch.

When I was older I would go with mates and drink the day away.

Norah · 02/04/2006 20:10

Not for knobs !

I care ! Also rowed - as did dh at university - so appreciate the physical challenge - agree about football - that really is for knobs - thick oiky knobs at that !

cupcakes · 02/04/2006 20:10

when I was very little we lived round the corner from Putney Bridge so always used to watch the start then see the rest in a pub. Or race home.

notasheep · 03/04/2006 14:38
