OP posts:
fanny5 · 01/04/2006 19:48

that is worse i think because at least agencies dont actually touch or are iwth the kids every day!!

Tiasmummy · 01/04/2006 19:48

Was a big branch too.

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 19:49

not that theres something wrong with you though of course lol

7up · 01/04/2006 19:49

tiasmummy, im absolutely gobsmacked that nursery staff werent police checked!i thought it was mandatory now. when i started working in secondary school nearly 8 years ago i was police checked

perfumelady · 01/04/2006 19:50

but it all boils down to money and companies being tight. i had a police check done just so i could go on school trips with the children bet there are loads of schools that don't do that

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 19:51

youd think after the huntley thing and gary glitter bla bla bla, the goverment would get their act together. They just dont do anything until after the event.....what good is that to anyone?

Tiasmummy · 01/04/2006 19:52

Yep you would of thought so but it just never happened.

perfumelady · 01/04/2006 19:53

absolutely it is so wrong like you say it's always after the event but it just shows that even after the event some people never learn

strawberrymilkshake · 01/04/2006 19:54

Evening everyone

Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend, I see its very busy with the normal BK thing. I phoned DTI yesterday as i was starting to get paranoid about them after some comments from here, they said that they are fine to me and are rep by them, so i feel fine. But it does get you paranoid on here when you are new to all this.

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 19:54

thats why so many dodgy agents opened up then cos i knew they used to be licensed years ago and then it was all stopped. Everyone thinks their child is lovely so it opened the doors for dodgy characters with shady pasts to capitalise on it?

7up · 01/04/2006 19:57

dont be paranoid strawberry, like perfume has pointed out its actually a good thing if the agencies do have their faults pointed out. im more paranoid about the child safety issue now!

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 19:58

ah theres the answer milkshake. just goes to show you shouldnt listen to everything on a chatroom, or take it how it is not meant to be read. That letter that someone put on here sure didnt read like that though did it?

so tiamummy, what did the letters say that you were sent? are you allowed to tell us. I am really intrigued

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 19:58

me too!!

Do you think that if loads of mums tried to get together and lobby about it we can get something done?

Tiasmummy · 01/04/2006 20:00

Fanny - they are from the DTI but like I say I am not sure if i should paste it or not. Not sure if that is allowed but I have asked Debi. Emailed her back at 6.30 so she had prob gone home. But I will let you know.

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 20:00

or what if we contact loads of agencies and try to get all of them to do it. They should surely want it as much as we do

strawberrymilkshake · 01/04/2006 20:00

I know bk has changed there web page now so you need a password, which personally i think is better.

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 20:01

i am such a nosy cow

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 20:02

but most of the agencies dont have a password though do they

strawberrymilkshake · 01/04/2006 20:03

No a some dont, some do, but i went on to bk today and you now have to enter your kidz id number

7up · 01/04/2006 20:04

is it not passwords for the under 2's or 3's?i must go and put mine to bed!

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 20:06

maybe they changed it? That wouldnt be something that the dti would have told them to do though surely? not if the others dont have passwords?

strawberrymilkshake · 01/04/2006 20:08

I dont know, there a few where you can just look at the kids without entering the ids, but i went on bk to look at dd today and now need to enter number, which is not such a bad thing

fanny5 · 01/04/2006 20:11

i think it is much better with a password. but then again if you want your kids to be seen in magazines and catalogues then that is no different than being on the internet is it

perfumelady · 01/04/2006 20:16

The whole b'k website has had a face lift, looks much better and lots more info. don't speck the dti told them to do it, they are maybe just taking note and making things better, off there own back.

strawberry and totally don't know if your interested but the sound of music are holding open castings for the von tripp children on thurs 6th april from 9.am at the london palladium they have to sing somewhere over the rainbow.

strawberrymilkshake · 01/04/2006 20:16

I Know what you mean, but the agencies are for people who want to use your children for commercials etc etc, not for the general public just to few your kids.
