Cumbria
But tbh I can't get past today atm. It's so final now. We worked so hard to get where we are, there's so much to give up. I've known this was coming for a while, but it doesn't stop the shock of it actually happening.

Of course you feel miserable Sad I'm really sorry it hasn't worked out but as Hf says, France will always be there.

Hulababy · 31/03/2006 09:53

:( Rhubarb. Sorry things haven't worked out the way you wanted them too this time. Good luck with your next move.

zippitippitoes · 31/03/2006 09:54

You aren't giving up though it seems like it, you've achieved a lot that most people don't even get off their backsides and try for. The experience doesn't evaporate it's now part of your lives together so you build on it.

I have to think like this..I had a shop and it was a disaster I persisted with for three years but althoguh financially it was awful, mentally it wasn't a filure it was an achievement

katierocket · 31/03/2006 09:56

Can see that it must feel shite to leave but zippi's right, it'll always be a part of you.

Cumbria is lovely, parts of it are magical.

Rhubarb · 31/03/2006 09:57

Thanks. Smile
We're telling dd tonight. Gonna try and keep it all positive for her sake, make it sound like a big adventure. God knows what she's gonna say when she finds out we'll be living in the damn caravan again for a few months! Poor thing, she's so fragile atm.

I'm so sorry, Rhu. Here's hoping things go better in Cumbria.

WideWebWitch · 31/03/2006 09:59

Sorry to hear this.

Sorry to hear you sound down Rhubarb. I think perhaps you have to feel a bit sad - but that's ok. Its better to acknowledge that you feel miserable and disappointed and then once you've worked through feeling sad, then you can start to look forward to the new life in Cumbria.

Rhubarb · 31/03/2006 10:11

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, I can't make any plans for the future atm as I'm grieving for my life here. I want to be able to come to terms with that before I can start to move on.
I hate goodbyes, esp when I've been so happy here and knowing what we had to do to get to this point. Seems such a waste to leave it all behind. I think this will be my one biggest regret in life, that it didn't work out.

I don't have the kids this morning so I'm going to have a bath and a good cry and maybe then I'll feel better. I'll get drunk tonight too so apologies in advance if you see me on here tonight, just chuck me off will you?

Thanks for being there guys.

another way of looking at it is that life may be abit of abattle but that's because you are grasping it by the neck and taking risks. Cumbria is a new challenge..

Rhubarb · 31/03/2006 10:13

I think my dh would rather I stopped grasping life in that way and put it down gently!

zippitippitoes · 31/03/2006 10:14

I have ben told why do you always have to make life so hard for yourself and then worry to death about it!

dinosaure · 31/03/2006 10:15

Good luck and best wishes for the next stage, Rhubarb. I really admire you for being brave enough to keep changing your life like this.

rhubarb-its normal to feel sad, but see this as a move forward, cumbria is lovely.
you can look at it as having just put france on the back burner for a while,it will still be thereSmile

LIZS · 31/03/2006 10:19

Sorry it hasn't worked out Rhubarb, and no, knowing it is going to happen doesn't make it any easier. ds was frantic at the thought of leaving Switzerland and still goes all misty eyed about the mountains but we can always look forward to going back to visit because we left on a positive note whilst we were still enjoying life there. The children have actually adapted really well, you wouldn't know dd had lived anywhwere else.

spacecadet · 31/03/2006 10:20

good luck btw.

ggglimpopo · 31/03/2006 10:26
Sad
Frenchgirl · 31/03/2006 10:37

I'm sorry rhubarb, you have worked so hard to do this. But don't forget how much you have all learnt, in particular your children, and that you did something many people couldn't.
It might be for the best though as I have heard that a leading french 'patron' is saying that the french state will be bankrupt within a couple of years...
and who wants to live in a country that's permanently on strike!!! Wink

Surfermum · 31/03/2006 10:44

Sorry it hasn't worked out. You've been far braver than I ever would have been, and I think you should be proud of having the guts to give France a go in the first place.

ggglimpopo · 31/03/2006 10:45

Frenchgirl - the strikes are really getting to me. I live right in Bordeaux and am getting mighty pissed off with all this "liberté, égalité, fraternité" crap.....

No manif in Cumbria, Rhubs, and Marmite and crumpets and M and S....
