alittlebitshy · 30/03/2006 21:45

i'd say now, what with easter happening in between. actually get it into their diaries!!

Bozza · 30/03/2006 21:46

I would give out now due to the Easter hols coming up. I tend to think 3 weeks before normally.

MerlinsBeard · 30/03/2006 21:47

DS2 is having his on Sat 29th April (his birthday is on Sat 15th, we have 3 April birthdays here, at least one has always been in the Easter hols) and he gave his invites out last week - on Friday I think. That seemed way premature to me, I would have waited until the end of this week, but I wasn't here so he took advantage Grin and maybe he was right.

(He will be 13, 13-yr-olds never RSVP, I will end up ringing all the parents to see who's coming)

Bozza · 30/03/2006 21:55

Do they still have parties at 13 JanH? I think DH was hoping that DS could be phased out of them over the next couple of years. Grin

Hulababy · 30/03/2006 21:55

DD's party is Saturday. We handed out party invites at the start of the month with a RSVP date of last Friday.

MerlinsBeard · 30/03/2006 21:59

ds1 will only b 3 so most of the mums will rsvp when i hand them the invite lol!

I was impressed with ours as everyone replied before the RSVP date and many in first week (DD will be 4). Just have to get the whole party sorted out now!!!

5-a-side football at the local JJB soccerdome, Bozza - it should be reasonably manageable...last year we hired a village hall and had a disco and that was supposed to be the last, but he's been to quite a few this year so it seems churlish not to reciprocate.

(Though in my absence, again, he's extended the hours I'd planned - the pitch is booked from 5-6 and I'd said they could come at 4 and we'd go for McDs at 6 and drop them all back at 7. His invites say 3.30-8 Shock)

MerlinsBeard · 30/03/2006 22:11

thats a looooong party!

Bozza · 30/03/2006 22:25

So how many teenagers is that JanH?

JanH · 30/03/2006 22:28

It is, mom, but we've had longer ones Shock - when DD1 was 10 and DD2 was 7 (they have the other two April birthdays) we took 8 little girls to see the BFG at a theatre in Blackpool, with tea here before we went - I think that was a 6-7 hour job!

Hulababy · 30/03/2006 22:29

Shock And there's me concerned about sorting out Saturday with 25 children for 1.5 hours! Any longer and I think I'd go loopy! Even with all the parents there :)

JanH · 30/03/2006 22:32

10, I think, Bozza - DS2 plus 9 friends. I have a Zafira so I can get 6 in, and DH has an ordinary car so he can carry 4. (2 years ago we had a laser party at Morecambe - this is a big disadvantage of living in the sticks, you have to travel miles to the venues - and DH then had a 7-seater too so we had 6 lovely 11-year-old boys in each car aaaaaaaargh)

(They were very good really - spent a lot of time texting each other and urging the driver of the car behind to overtake the car in front Grin - I hope the prospect of all this is filling you with joy?)

Bozza · 30/03/2006 22:35

So siblings don't get to come then? We are still at the age of soft play for DS and home for DD. Only problem with home for DD is DS and his friends (who are the older siblings of DD's friends) running riot....

JanH · 30/03/2006 22:35

Hula, the notion of 25 4-yr-olds for 1½ hours fills me with immeasurable amounts of dread, believe me! You grow to match your child's parties, fortunately (and then shrink back again Smile)

Hulababy · 30/03/2006 22:40

LOL! Tomorrow is my day to get everything sorted and the food bought, to collect the cake and to make sure i know where to go to collect the keys for the sports hall. Confirmed the bouncy castle this evening :)

JanH · 30/03/2006 22:41

DS1 (17) is first reserve in case someone can't come - he works on a Saturday anyway, until 4pm, but as he weighs twice as much as any of the 13-yr-olds I'm not sure if letting him play is a good idea, he would flatten the opposition.

Siblings always used to come when they were smaller but with the ages of ours it doesn't matter now. I can see that Big Boys and Small Girls won't mix too well when they are little, but later on you can probably organise things they can all do, like swimming or bowling or ice skating.
