Wondered whats it like.

Are the living costs high? I'm thinking in comparison to oxford. No ttoo bothered about rent as will be on housing benefit

Who supplies water there, is it thames walley or severn trent or other? (Thames valley water rates are soo high!)

Is it a damp area, in oxford children always ill cos of damp climate

I used to live in a village near banbury so not 100% sure on all the answers but compared to oxford I would definatly think banbury is going to be cheaper. I think thames water supply the water

I have no idea about it being a damp area, we live nr oxford and never knew anything about children being ill cos of it being damp

sorry not much help. If theres anything else you wanna know I will try help x

It was the crime blackspot of Thames Valley Police at one point. Not sure if thats still true.
Living costs about the same as Oxford, I'd imagine, if you dont have to count rent.

Its not so big, more of a small town feel.

Banbury housing is cheaper than Oxford, would assume that rental property is cheaper too. Water supplied by Thames Water. Don't think Banbury gets any more rain that anywhere else in Oxfordshire!!

ThePrisoner · 30/03/2006 01:10

than anywhere ...

lexiemum · 30/03/2006 02:46

we moved out to Banbury from Oxford because of the cost of living in Oxford. I actually prefer Banbury now (been here 4yrs). Was able to purchase a 4bed house with huge garden for about the same in Oxford we would have had a 2 bed, slighter newer house with a postage stamp garden. We're not metered so probably save a bit - don't think my annual water bill is that excessive.

CKMUM · 30/03/2006 18:29

my water rates were 50 a month for 3 bed house, as they couldnt fit a water meter they have reduced it, but still 30 a month whereas brum was 15 a month

don't think you'll get much change out of £30p/mth - I pay mine twice a yr and hand over around £150 mark, i think - dh deals with it so not sure of exact figure.

ThePrisoner · 30/03/2006 20:31

Ours is roughly £30/month too (according to dh, I thought it was less!), and I work as childminder at home all day. Ours is metered.
