In teh car on the way to school this morning dd was in a really bad mood mainly because she had misplaced her ipod and was accusing her brother of stealing it. She was really quite vile and would not shut up. After a few minutes of ranting and being spiteful she kicked the back of the car seat where ds was sitting. As you can imagine its quite distracting so I turned round and aimed my open bottle of water at her. Unfortunately I thought it was the one with a squeezy valve in the top only it wasnt and as I squeezed a huge foutain of water came out and hit her square on the head, dripped down her face and onto her blazer. It did shut her up (after she called me a bitch) though. I felt terrible although didnt apologise but I did ring her form tutor to explain why she was wet on such a nice morning. I think she was slighly amused but I know she feels a lot of parents dont deal with their kids at all let alone badly

It was an accident! If yr dd has an ipod she is obviously old enough to take it... must have been surprised though! Bet the look on her face was something to behold! I certainly wouldn't feel guilty about it...

SorenLorensen · 28/03/2006 11:46

I'm sorry, but I think......

that's really funny Grin And I think she should apologise for her behaviour (and calling you a bitch) before you graciously concede that half drowning her was not perhaps the best way to respond.

oliveoil · 28/03/2006 11:46

Sorry but I find this hilarious!

Are you sure you thought it was the one with the squeezy valve?........

NomDePlume · 28/03/2006 11:47

sorry but may I allow myself a little on this one ?!

Soaking your kids on the way to school is not generally a great idea, but it was an accident and she was being horrid so I don;t think you should be feeling bad.

catj · 28/03/2006 11:47

That's just the sort of thing I'd do! Grin.

pindy · 28/03/2006 12:13

Made me smile and it served her right, must be about 14 like my dd!!!!!! Perhaps i'll try it tomorrow!!!

Don't worry and I bet she actually enjoyed telling her friends and had a laugh about it later!

jalopy · 28/03/2006 12:46

Jampots, I would have gone beserk if my daughter had called me a bitch. How old is she?

Freckle · 28/03/2006 12:50

Oh well done, jampots - even if it was accidental. New take on the short, sharp shock Grin.

Angeliz · 28/03/2006 12:52

It's the kind of thing you'll both laugh your heads off at in a few years time. See you are a GOOG Mam you are creating funny memories for herSmile

Angeliz · 28/03/2006 12:52

GOOD!!!

Tortington · 28/03/2006 13:34

i think you were extremely restrained actually. i would have dragged her out the car and made her walk.

LoveMyGirls · 29/03/2006 12:16

excellent well done jampots!!! absolutly hilarious!! im going to keep a water bottle in my car (when i get one again) for when my dd gets lippy (she's 6 atm so no hurry)
i think its better than grounding her or whatever at least it worked - although i think she deserves further punishment for calling you a bitch. (like taking her ipod off her for a week or something)

Feistybird · 29/03/2006 12:20

yes, that's the kind of thing I'd have done too!

My dds are small so I may just be out of touch, but my guess is that I would've seriously grounded her/confiscated her ipod (when she found it)/stopped all pocket money, if either called me a bitch.

jampots · 29/03/2006 13:10

she was quite grovelly last night especially after I told her that her ipod was on the floor at the back of the car and she apologised to her brother and felt she couldnt say anything when she realised the password to the computer was changed and she couldnt access her precious MSN Grin. Also brought a letter home about parents evening last night. "I'd like to see ALL your teachers please. Get me an appointment for EVERY ONE!" Instead of the usual english, maths, science, history, german, spanish. She knows she will suffer very badly for this although not quite so obviously abusively.

God, I think I might have been tempted to do it deliberately

slug · 29/03/2006 13:17

Just speaking as a teacher....
Grin Grin Grin Grin

She shouldn't have had her ipod at school anyway.

winnie · 29/03/2006 13:32
Grin
RTKangaMummy · 29/03/2006 13:33

Well done Jampots Smile

Grin I think it was funny too Grin

jampots · 29/03/2006 13:33

she doesnt slug - she leaves it in the car it was just the 10 minute journey to school she NEEDS it for

bubblez · 29/03/2006 13:54

hahaha.....now that was a good one....

your dd is very lucky.... my mum would have wallopped me one... Grin (and i wouldnt dare call her a bitch) dont get me wrong i wasnt abused, just disaplined the 'good old fashioned way', worked a treat and me and my mum have a lovely relationship....

anyway imo you dont have anything to feel bad about....

WideWebWitch · 29/03/2006 13:59

Jampots, I've only read your first post and I'm afraid I'm sniggering. It wasn't ideal but if she hadn't behaved badly you wouldn't have reacted and she wouldn't be wet. Ha ha ha at the thought of explaining to the teacher.
