for calling dd2 a baby (she is 2)!! She thinks I should treat her in a more grown up fashion and that I am clinging on to babyhood as she is my last. She IS a baby though - isn't she? What do you think?

DS (who is 28 months) would tell me off if I called him a baby ("My big boy" he says) but he is a baby really.

I am sure that DD (6 months) will continue to be a baby for rather longer.

Techinically, no, she isn't a baby. Obviously she is still quite heavily reliant on you for most things and so long as you are encouraging the beginnings of independence then I don;t see the problem.

I still call my 8 yr old and my 6 yr old my babies, and my mum calls me(36) and my sister (34) her babies as terms of endearment. Your children never stop being your babies, IMO! I'd draw the line at calling them baby in public though Grin

To put it in to context, I was telling her that dd2 had been sick that morning, and said, 'I gave her breakfast this morning too, they can't tell you they're feeling ill when they're babies can they?' Which is true, she cannot yet communicate to me that she doesn't feel great, so although, yes, she is now a toddler, there are still many ways in which she is totally reliant on me. Well, I think so anyway. Smile
