I need to chuck out an old pc, tv stand (mostly plastic and metal) and an old tv (totally kaput and doesn't work)....Don't really want to take them to a tip to add to the landfill problem. Is there somewhere you can take stuff like this for recycling?

we have a new state-of-the-art recycling centre near us - replaced the old 'tip'! - and they have a section for unwanted electrical goods. I think that people have contracts with the council for taking these things away and reusing whatever they can from them.

Our old tip had a recycling rate of about 20%, but the new one is averaging about 80-85% of the things that are brought there which is a massive improvement.

The council should be able to tell you, and a charity shop might take the TV stand.

Leicester Eco-house will take old PCs, they use the spare parts to rebuild and send to people in developping world.

Thanks for these suggestions
