Would anyone like to help me pack for my holiday?

Since having dds I have been so disorganised. We have a trip to France booked for four nights/five days in the easter holidays and I'm really looking forward to it. I have just over two weeks to get sorted out and I plan to go away, stress free, organised and everything ready to go the night before rather than on the morning like I usually do.
So, would anyone like to help me compile of a list of things to do and take?
TIA Grin

I'll help. where in france are you going?

lucy5 · 25/03/2006 10:35

Where are you staying, cottage, camping , hotel etc?

SPARKLER1 · 25/03/2006 10:38

No not camping at this time of the year. We will be staying in cottage for the first night and then down into a travel lodge type place for the other three nights. Nice and easy really.

Ooh lovely , I love France. i assume you are going North. So I would take layers because the weather could do anything, pack an adaptor for hair dryer etc. Are you driving over?

SPARKLER1 · 25/03/2006 10:46

Yep - our plan is to travel over Poole to Cherbourg on ferry with car. Drive to Saint Mont Michel and stay there for one night. Spend a bit of time there next day. Then driving down towards Paris and staying there in a travel lodge place for three more nights. Will spend one day at Eurodisney and the rest doing touristy stuff.

Ooh lovely! We used to go to france alot when we lived in poole although we never made it down to Euro disney. How old are your kids?

SPARKLER1 · 25/03/2006 10:49

6 and 4

I guess I don't really need to take much. Passports, tickets, money and change of clothes. We'd survive with that I think! Smile

Take some toys, story cds for the car, travel sick stuff, some snacks.

SPARKLER1 · 25/03/2006 11:00

travel sick stuff for me - I'm terrible for car sickness Blush

Also the crossing can be choppy, so it maybe worth looking what there is for the kids.

Bozza · 25/03/2006 11:50

joy rides worked for my DS last summer on the channel crossing.

lay out everything you think you need, then halve it, you will still have too much

i went to thailand with a backpack that went into handluggage, about 36 inches by 24, for a month, and i still came back with stuff i hadn't worn

SPARKLER1 · 26/03/2006 13:26

thanks Lou

And if you take less luggage there is more room for wine on the way back.

SPARKLER1 · 26/03/2006 13:58

Hi Surfer - I knew I could count on you for quality advice. Wink Wink Of course, the wine how could I forget!!!!! Smile

good advice from Lou. My luggage is always much smaler than a lot of people's handluggage too!

lou33 · 26/03/2006 15:39

cece, i always get my bags checked as hand luggage, and i always have them asking if i am sure i dont have any other bags to check through Smile

Surfermum · 26/03/2006 19:21

Glad I didn't disappoint Grin.

Lucycat · 26/03/2006 19:24

But some of Tesco's wine carrying bags, they cost 50p each (forever!) and fold down flat to fit 6 bottles in each for the way home - oh and they have sturdy handles unlike the cardboard ones!

camera batteries / recharger - always forget that!

cece · 26/03/2006 19:29

I get very upset if my luggage weighs more than 9 kilos.

Lucycat · 26/03/2006 19:33

ooh some of those little food bags, klippits fasteners and disposable plastic teaspoons - great for petit filous!

I'm still thinking! Grin

SPARKLER1 · 26/03/2006 21:06

We won't need to worry about luggage weight. We are taking our car.
