I just felt like having a wee place to come and thank all the complete strangers that made my day a bit better, as I'll never see them again probably! If that's weird then...well... ok Grin

To start I'd like to thank the lovely old woman who got down on her hands and knees to pick up Theo's book on the bus, and then carried my pram off for me even though she was blatently 70 odd.....

I always want to say thanks to these people properly and then feel sad that I can't...do you get that feeling?

I'll probably think of loads more...

ohhh good idea...I want to thank the lovely man last week who after 4 people pushing past me ,adam and the pram with H in said in a loud voice to everyone in the post office " dont worry love I will hold the door for you as others dont seem to have manners"...bless him

starlover · 22/03/2006 21:20

but... don't you judt say thank you to them at the time?

Nemo1977 · 22/03/2006 21:22

I say thanks but never wow your are such a hero and I really really really appreciate someone being nice to me today..pmsl

Posey · 22/03/2006 21:22

I'm sure they do but its nice to have a thread saying what lovely things people do for you instead of slagging-off threads. Makes you feel good about people.

Littlefish · 22/03/2006 21:31

I said thank you many times yesterday to the very kind garage owner who let me use his phone and then wouldn't let me pay for the call.

sharklet · 22/03/2006 21:39

I'd like to say thank you to the bus driver who let DD sit on his steering wheel and sang the wheels on the bus with her while I folded the stroller and man handled it on.

The same bus driver also waited for me to run down the lane from the Dr's surgery so I wouldn't have to wait in the rain an hour. You would only find that kind of service on a village route!

Bless him

I would like to say thankyou to my next-door neighbour who got herself togged up in her coat, boots and plastic hat thingy that ties under the chin ... just to come round in the middle of a blizzard to tell me that I had left my lights on on my car...

And I would like to say thank you to the lady in the library who overheard me trying to find a phone number for another customer, and went out to her car (in the snow) to get the number for me Smile

I did thank them both profusely at the time but it never seems enough really, does it?

fastasleep · 22/03/2006 23:10

Aww, that's what I meant, it doesn't seem enough!

I would like to thank the stars and makers of 'Desperate Housewives' for helping me endure an hour of tedious ironing.

I would like to thank the ticket conductor on the train I get for being so friendly and nice, helping me on and off the train with the pushchair and jumping to my defence when a supposedly disabled woman told me I had to move, he explained to her the space was primarily for wheelchairs then pushchairs and she could sit in the seat opposite as she had neither of these (she was partially sighted). This was after her friend who lead her on the train phisically grabbed my pushchair and started moving it Shock he stepped straight in firmly removing the strangers hands from my pushchair and telling them where they could go. I have written to Southern Rail with thanks because he was truely amazing.

sharklet · 22/03/2006 23:39

Shock I'd have been tempted to flatten anyone moving my DD's pushchair! That always bugs me with those spaces on trains...

flutterbee · 23/03/2006 19:12

trust me sharklet if the nice inspector hadn't got there it would have been pistols at dawn, I was so shocked anyone would have the cheek to do this especially when ds was only 5 weeks old and fast asleep.

I'd like to thank the lovely old man who GAVE me 60p to put in the pay and display machine today. He looked like he could do with a bit more spare change too Sad. I only had a £2 coin but knew I only needed to spend about 50p/60p to do my errands. He overheard me asking a passer by if she had change for £2, jumped in and insisted I take the money! True gent!

foxinsocks · 23/03/2006 19:34

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat you must have found the only person who works for SW trains who understands oyster + SW trains (because certainly none of them round here do)

I shall thank the man who I parked in the other day - I insisted it was him who had parked incorrectly when actually it was me (didn't realise straight away). He very politely bowed down, conceded defeat and moved his car and then I realised it was me who had parked wrong and he had only conceded defeat to avoid a fight. So thanks for being such a gentleman.

I'm on a roll this week. The lovely man at our small post office wrapped up my mum's present for me, using his own sellotape. Then I suddenly realised I couldn't post it cos I didn't have her post code on me and I didn't have my mobile to find it out - so he let me use his phone! I didn;t ask, he just offered. he said he didn't want my mum getting her present late. bless. Smile

foxinsocks · 23/03/2006 19:41

and you are in a sw trains area within london? I cannot think of an area where everyone is so polite and helpful!
