If you invite toddler round to 'tea' do you feed the parent(s) also?

Just wondering.
Parents of toddler arrived with wine and yummy bread and I had made no food for them. 5pm.
Nobody I know eats adult dinner at 5. Am cringing...

Pruni, I don't think you had to feed the adults, it's absolutely not expected imo - most people assume that adults eat later, with other adults. I do anyway and the most I'd do is produce salami/smoked salmon/anything I had lying around as a snack to go with the wine but only if I had some, it's not obligatory, honestly, I wouldn't worry! (Are they p^ artists btw, 5pm is early ish for wine?!)

Wine and nibbles at 5 sounds reasonable to me, perhaps the bread is an American type of canape Grin
