This list of events and occurrences are not necessarily chronological, neither are they necessarily accurate.

I don't think I should use necessarily twice - but I'm so confused I don't know what to do

"This list of events and occurrences may not be chronological"

if they're not accurate why are you listing them??? Wink

SenoraPostrophe · 22/03/2006 14:34

well it should be "this list...is not...neither is it..."

it's not the most elegant sentence, but isn't wrong really. It has to be a bit clumsy in order to say it clearly.

EvesMama · 22/03/2006 14:34

'nor' are they..

Tinker · 22/03/2006 14:35

This list of events and occurrences are neither chronological nor accurate.

Do you really need "necessarily"?

Katymac · 22/03/2006 14:35

So how do I write I might have got it wrong
This is the para

"This list of events and occurrences may not be chronological, neither are they necessarily accurate. I have depended on my memory, that of my husband and that of my parents. Memory is always coloured by subsequent events and cannot be relied upon. Please bear this in mind and remember its fallibility whilst reading."

Tinker · 22/03/2006 14:35

is not are

SenoraPostrophe · 22/03/2006 14:36

tinker - it IS neither chronolgical or accurate!!

Katymac · 22/03/2006 14:36

Guys don't argue - I don't have time...and my DD's future depends upon itGrin

OP posts:
spacedonkey · 22/03/2006 14:37

that looks fine to me, except I'd replace "neither" with "nor"

Tinker · 22/03/2006 14:37

Beat you Smile

SenoraPostrophe · 22/03/2006 14:37

km - I think I would just write "This list has been compiled from memory..." and omit the first sentence altogether.

Oliviab · 22/03/2006 14:37

Here is a list, dates to be confirmed.

spacedonkey · 22/03/2006 14:38

if you're referring to a list of events, then it should say "neither (or nor) is it" rather than "are they"

Tinker · 22/03/2006 14:38

Yes, write in bullet points instead.

amynnixmum · 22/03/2006 14:38

How about: I cannot guarentee that this list of events and occurrences is necessarily strictly chronological or completely accurate. I have depended .....

Katymac · 22/03/2006 14:42

Wow what speed and interest about a grammer/sentance construction/spelling problem

Shows that we M/Netters really know what's important!!Wink

This list of events and occurrences are not necessarily chronological, neither are they entirely accurate

i would say works best..

what are you writing..just to be nosy?

Katymac · 22/03/2006 15:39

A list of events to (prove/disprove?) that DD has been bullied over a long time

OP posts:
babyonboard · 22/03/2006 15:45

Is it a letter to school..if so I would suggest changing the tone....

Mercy · 22/03/2006 15:53

'I have compiled a list of events which demonstrates that dd has been bullied over a long period' ??

Katymac · 22/03/2006 16:08

Not really my family support worker has just asked me to list what has happended I thought there might be as many as 6 events - when I started there are over 12, it's shocking

We are having a meeting with the head and the family support worker to "sort it out" my formal letter of comlaint is somewhere else on MN - this is just a top up
