I've tried to search archives for the thread, but archives isn't working again.

A while ago I posted that my dd2 was being bullied by a boy at her school who has special needs but hasn't been statemented yet.

First of all, thank you all for your advice etc it really did help, and secondly I just thought that I would update.

dd2 and this little boy now get on like a house on fire, they play together quite alot (still under supervision) and dd2's teacher has actually told me that she is a calming influence on X.

AND it is dd2's birthday party next saturday and she has inisted that this little boy comes, I have spoken to his mother today and she is fine about him coming.

I know this sounds weird, but when it comes to the party games etc do I just carry on as normal, or give him more eye contact when I am speaking?

Doesn't it make you wish that us adults could resolves issues so well?

That's really good news Radley. I know many of my dd's tormenters actually just wanted her to p;ay with them or give them some kind of attention but didn't know how to go about it.

I would carry on as normal at the party, but as a mum I'd be extra fascinated to watch his behaviour towards your dd and the other kids without letting him know this is what you're doing.

Have a good one. Smile

I am really excited about it, as the party is a completely different concept to anything I have ever done before and I know of no-one that has done the same.

The video camera will be whirring and the camera clicking lol

What sort of party are you doing radley?

Radley · 22/03/2006 18:49

It has been mentioned somewhere on mumsnet. It's a be my bear party, where instead of taking home a party bag with cake that doesn't get eaten, they get one of \link{http://www.bemybear.co.uk/clientimages/product_3_poppetsm.jpg\these}. The bears are very very soft and about 40cm long. The kids get to stuff them themselves and then when they go they get a special bag to carry them in and a birth certificate.

Then, instead of giving them a piece of wrapped up cake I'm going to put some fairy cakes on a tray with candle in each, let dd2 blow them out and then the children can have a bun on the way home.

We'll also be playing pin the horn on the unicorn and pass the parcel.

and where do you get the bears form?? or have you made them yourslef?

Radley · 22/03/2006 18:55

You get them from \link{http://www.bemybear.co.uk/\here} and they really are lovely quality, also, you get a free skin, just incase something happens to go wrong with one of the others.

It sounds good Radley. A bit different.
Best of luck. Do report back.

That's what I though SD, I just wanted something completely different, rather than the usual kids running round causing havoc.

Doing \link{http://i19.ebayimg.com/01/i/06/2b/30/db_1_b.JPG\this} is going to be the biggest challenge.
