I read another thread which got me thinking about this.

I love reading bedtime stories, having little chats, just being silly and laughing a lot.

kisses, my dd is 1 and just learned how to give proper kisses. i get woken up with kisses, get kisses all day and get kissed when i'm putting her to bed and it makes me so unbelievably happy every single time.

i love seeing what a bright confidant cheerful little girl she is and knowing that's the best start in life i could possibly give her.

and the way when she bumps herself no-one but mommy can kiss it better properly or hug her in quite the right way.

o god, i've started crying now, damn pregnancy hormones Blush

For me it is the unconditional love thing. I also love being number one, which I am. Dh hates it, but it's true!

I also love being complimented by people on how ds is a polite little boy. I feel proud of him. He is an empathetic and likeable sweetiepie. He had lots of friends, and cares about them...

He's still a little monkey at times though. I just needed to remind myself of the good things, because, during the stressful day, I sometimes forget what a sweetie he is.

cuddles and kisses and when they hug you tight around the neck.... seeing their excited faces when I come home from being out and they have stayed in with dh... they usually squeal and call out mum or mama at the top of their voices.

looking at ds and thinking "i made you ". Nearly 10 years on, its still a magical thing to me.

Waking up in the morning to lots of cuddles and hugs from my youngest two (7 and 9). Eldest one (11) is not very tactile, so I have to demand hugs off him now and again, but he's adorable in his own way too.

Cuddles, cuddles and cuddles!! And hearing them say "Mummy" and thinking "blimey, that's me!". And their smiles, and (in winter) snuggling up in bed with them to read the bedtime story...

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 21/03/2006 00:02

the ease with which you can make them laugh by saying silly things. Last night at bedtime I told them to brush their wee and do a bedtime tooth, then when they pointed out how silly I was, I told them to get on the brush, then do a lootime toothpaste etc etc. they collapse into helpless heaps and I love it. Dh's trick is to pretend he can't see them when playing hide and seek, even though they are jumping up and down shouting right in front of him. Children are so much easier to amuse than grown ups.

i like doing or buying things i know dd1 will like (suprising her when she gets home from school) giving my children happy memories and bringing them up to be loving kind and generous. Feeling a huge sense of pride when anyone says how beautiful, helpful clever etc they are.

robin3 · 21/03/2006 12:14

Yep the love they give you....my son is only 2 and he actually apologises if he thinks he's hurt me (which he does quite a lot during wrestling sessions). He's always so excited to see me and even in the middle of the night when he's sick he gives me a BIG smile when we're having a cuddle. He really makes me think all the time as well...what can we play, how should I handle this, what is he trying to say...I'm rediscovering the simple things in life like showing him how puff pastry rises in the oven.

yackertyyack · 21/03/2006 12:28

Hearing him laugh - its so genuine!!! Last night I was in sainsburys in hysterics as my 1 year old son was in the trolley and kept dropping my car keys on the floor and was giving big belly laughs every time I bent down and picked them up!!! This in turn made me laugh and he then laughed even harder - we were in a world of our own and I LOVED IT!! Everyday he amazes me with what he can do and understand and the best thing is knowing that I have got so much more to come!!!!

NewLP · 21/03/2006 12:46

Kisses and Cuddles and I love you’s definitely!!

DS (3.7) dancing (read jumping) to the radio on my bed each morning and ME holding his hands and making him jump higher and laugh louder – I know he shouldn’t really be encouraged to do this, but it’s so much fun!!!
I think that’s one of the things I love most about being a mum – the excuse to be silly and have real FUN.

LadyPenelope · 21/03/2006 13:04

giggles
holding hands (my brother told me to always treasure that as one day they just stop Sad)
watching my 2 together ... I never expected that would give me so much joy
cuddles
playing endless games of uno
bathtime - them running mad and naked before their bath and then all clean and smelling sweet wrapped up in towels afterwards ... bliss!

stol · 21/03/2006 13:14
